Music Summer Festivals

Funky--K

Starting XI
Hi there

The Summer is here, and it's time for the Festivals u remember for the rest of your life!!

I already atended one,Super Bock Super Rock here in Portugal, end of May, with amazing bands performing, which I'd rank:

1- The Hives (they simply owned the entire Old School of Rock who was there, what a ****in performance!!!)
2- System Of A Down (that new album is history in the making)
3- Audioslave (what power! they also played RATM and Soundgarden, which is allways a bonus from a super group)
4- Iggy Pop (the man is still alive and kickin)
5- Marilyn Manson (was expecting a lot more, to be honest, but still a grand show)

Other bands that were there were New Order, Prodigy (pretty energic concert), Incubus (:/), BEP (the hottie wore pants... no mini skirt... unacceptable), Slayer (they're just too old for this :( big disapoitment), Moby (pretty cool concert, a lot of guitars for my surprise), Mastodon (quite consistet, no energy though) and Turbonegro (which delivered a kickass show too)

Also there were the some of the best portuguese bands like Ramp, Primitive Reason, Blasted Mechanism and Blind Zero (and hip hop newcomers Expensive Soul)

I'm also planning on going this Summer, here in Portugal to other 2 festivals:

Festival Sudoeste - headlining there's Oasis (:s) but there's also Chemichal Brothers, Basement Jaxx and maybe Fatboy Slim... not much rock, but allways a good time

Paredes de Coura - Foo Fighters, The Pixies and QOTSA... enough to say I'M THERE!!! :D

and in August (12th) I'm going to U2's concert in Alvalade, their one of my childhood bands, should be quite a memory:D

The last music festival I went to was two years ago, Livestock 13. It sucked tremendously. Nothing but a bunch of redneck rock bands and stuff, but I only went because my girlfriend at the time practically forced me to go with her and her hick friends.

I kind wanted to go to Ozzfest this year because of a couple of bands I really wanted to see, but most of the lineups are crap anyway.

The Legendary:

Black Sabbath
Iron Maiden

The Good:

In Flames
Black Label Society
Arch Enemy
Soilwork
Mastodon

and the rest of the lineup is metalcore crap I can't be arsed to name right now, and Jada Pinkett Smith's band.

Just got home from my second festival experience ever (first one being Roskilde 03), Roskilde 2005.

Can't really be arsed right now to tell about all the bands I saw and how it was in general, so I'll post about that later.

P.S.: Funky K, I fuc*ing love you for saying that SOAD's new album is history in the making. It's not as great as their first two, but it has something insanely unique and beautiful about it that I just can't explain. Radio/Video kicks ass :( (H)

Dave Grohl is a ******* legend!

Anyone got the new FF record? It kicks ass!
It's got 2 CD's. One is the usual awesome FF rock and the other disc is only acoustic songs, it's even got one featuring Norah Jones...amazingly they pull it off. Best FF record yet!

Dragan, what did he do...care to explain :ewan:

OK, check the pic I attached, 'cause I dont really know how to explain it otherwise. The grey spots represent people, with the 4 black boxes around them being metal fences for crowd safety (after what happened at the Pearl Jam gig in 2000 :(). I was in the front left one btw (H). The orange spots are crowd safety personnel. The large black box is this house-like structure where the producers or whatever sit and are in control of the sound (I'm not quite sure). Basically, Grohl went off stage following the red line I drew and first climbed on to the side of it (to everyone's joy!) and went inside only to come out on the roof of the lower part of this "structure" where he made the left and right sides of the crowd cheer in turns and together as well. It was probably one the most kickass things ever done at the festival. (H)(Y)
