my computer is slow as ****

i dont know why, it wasnt like this until recently, i upgraded my ram to 1gb now, im running at like 2+ ghz and my computer is slow as hellllll for simple **** like loading up a program, or lets say i do "save us" in an application, it will take forever to load up the folder list, etc.

i dont know why, same with games... games i could play fine a month ago run like **** now. When I log off from my Administrator account and switch over to the Guest everything works fine

I ran spybot, adaware, anti virus all that other crap but it didnt find anything.... I defragged my HD last week. It seems like theres some **** running in the background though, slowing everything down.

My CPU monitor is constantly like this BTW, staying at 99% for like 5 seconds, then dropping, and then going right back up.

what do i do??

i have the same problem on my laptop few weeks ago. i ran antivirus and spyware / adware software but couldn't find anything. i end up so frustrated and backup everything i have in my main drive, then format it

now everything works fine

Go to the processes tab & see whats eating up all your CPU bandwidth. Could be some kinda spyware program.

seems to be....i have seen that **** happen to me whenever i try to play any vids And worse, now my games and everythin is slower too....just a few days ago all was smooth (except the playin of vids) but now all games stutter and m so sick of it, i might as well throw my pc of my terrace

Try formattin man....thats the only thing i can recommend atm....btw joe, m still waitin on ur rig's pics playin a vid....what happened ?

I'm no expert.. but take a look at the processes that are running.... see if some wierd process (google it to check if its clean) is eating up your CPU

otherwise... have a look here or elsewhere on microsoft support.

Back on topic, erm you've got like 59 processes?! What do you even have that much. Firstly go Click the start menu. Click Run. Type cmd. Type msconfig. Click on the general tab. Click eitehr the normal startup or diagnostic. If things are ok then. It has something to with a process running in the background. Try keeping your processes low. Remove all those unnecessary ones. Keeping it below 30 is good. Or just above 30 is also good. Running 40 is also fine but just make sure that ain't no rubbish running or those processes you don't really need.

did it happen right after you plugged in the memory? It could be a faulty memory chip. Try removing that (if you have 2 memory "cards" that is) and see if it runs fine... it could also be the slot that is dirty, so you could try cleaning up... if those don't work, I'm afraid you'll have to format...

Been there done that mate. Capturing video playback is a little more complicated than hitting print screen or using fraps or any other software I've tried
