My FIFA Review

Hey guys,
Im not an amateur in fifa games, ive been playin em for the past 10 years. I finally got my game a few days ago and put in about 6 hrs of gaming yesterday.
Here are my comments :

Intro - Fantastic, the intro movie is "cool", resembles some of the nike ads , yes. Henry, ROnaldinho and Del Piero look really really good while movin around with the ball. GREAT
9/10

Menues- These are the only disappointment of the game. The design of the menues i would say is quite nice (ie. they look good) but the navigation from one to the other is cumbersome and tiring. You have to click in the right place otherwise you dont go to the next page !
6.5/10

Graphics- Sensational. A definite improvement over the past years. EA have put in a great deal of work in them. Even on my PC which is powered by NVidia TNT2 , which i believe is really ancient , the graphics were very acceptable and the frame rate wasnt badf either. It gave the overall feeling of smoothness and the max resolution i could play with , without breaks, was 1024 * 840*32. Which i think is very very nice. The player faces are extremely real. A great job done. And i am not exaggerating.
i woulg give an 8.5/10

Gameplay- This is the place where max improvements have been made. The OTB system is quite complicated but definately a step in the right direction. It does require a lot of practise to master but once you have done it, it gives you a klot of pleasure in carrying out off the ball moves. Most of the time the player that makes a run is caught offside but that thing can surely be overcome if the game is played more.
The new freestyle moves of the players are also quite imprsseive. I actually carried out a 360 spin near the defensse with Javier Zanetti and he nearly scored a goal. The shooting has got new dimensions. You can chip it in, tap it in, thump it ... theres even a low drive. VEry very good but time to carry out and perfect.
One on one with the goalie have been minimised . Actually they hardly ever occur. The defense is much stronger and diff to penetrate but it can be if you pass wel and make your strikers go on runs. OTB is helpful from the wings. But you need skill to pass the defense. You can do it easily on any level below PRO but on world class its virtually impossible.
Free kicks and corners have been reworked. I managed to score from a free kick which i think is very difficult, and from the corners scoring is akll the more fun.
8/10

Overall i think the game is brilliant. And i would give it a 9/10. the 1 is for the menues which are bad honestly.

nice review.

must say, i loved the game the first day that i bought it. then the next few days, i started to hate it, mainly out of frustration. it was a matter of trying to master the game in pro and world-class mode w/out fully realizing and understanding the controls. i've been playing WE6I up to the release of the ps2 version of FIFA04, so you can understand the difficulty in learning (or relearning) the controls and systems of another soccergame. anyways, to make a long story short, i'm starting to appreciate this game more and more.

people tend to fear and hate things that they don't truly understand, which might explain for all the negativity towards FIFA04. alot of people also tend to 'jump-on-the-bandwagon' and not say anything positive for fear of being ostracized. well, we all know that this game has its share of bugs and glitches, but not to sound like a broken record, NO VIDEO GAME IS PERFECT. but trust me, this game is a definite improvement over last years installment-- graphics wise and gameplay wise. this one's a keeper!

"rezpekt!"

Ya thats true...

In fifa 04 you really need to practise the controls bcoz thre complicated.
many new moves hav been put in , so to master the controls becomes even more difficult. Hence you need to spend a lot of time on ther game b4 u cn really start enjoying it to the fullest.
(specially OTB)

OTB is great, and can be devastatingly effective. you don't have to necessarily use it all the time, but it is useful to draw defenders away, make better clearances from your own box or half, and make you 'see the field' better. and in conjunction with the L1 player runs...watch out!!!
