Hello Forum Members,

As part of my UEFA Euro 2008 Patch, I've decided to take on a project that I'd never thought possible, building my very own stadium!

As stated in the Title of the Thread, I'll be working on the Skonto Stadium which is in Riga, Latvia, the home stadium of Skonto FC & the Latvian National Team.

Having just started this weekend, I think I've made some progress, but there's stil a long way ahead of me for this project to be completed.

As a result i've got a problem with the stand design. Here's a screen from Rhino:

Now what i want the extended stand to do is to bend so that it links up with the North-facing stand, Like so:

EDIT: Also, that 3D box in the NE corner is meant to be the foundations for the big Hall that gives the stadium its name:

Now how can i get my hall to curve up like the one in the above pictures? (C)

If any pro-stadmaker can help me out with this it'd be appreciated :jap:

More Updates on this stadium to come! :ewan:

I think it's a bit too steep, but go on like this, looking good :)

Better make a step 2 times longer than it's high.

like this:

Ok, Will do. (Y)

Also, why is my pitch red ? :|

Ah and one more thing ive heard stuff about layers... Shud I be using them, or can i make everything first and then seperate the different parts into layers later?

I dunno why it's red :D But it doesnt matter you only need it for the size ;)

It's much more difficult to use layers "later" ... you have to select every mesh then. Work with layers from the beginning on, that makes things much much easier.

OK.
Now I've read in the tutorial that a layer should be made for every pair of mesh/texture, So say for example if i want to have the same texture for all the stand in the East and that in the North-West, they can all be in the same layer, despite the fact that they arent the same size?

yes of course, as long as they are using exactly the same BMP as a texture, you can have them all in one layer.

But of course, you can have two layers, too. Doesnt matter. You can rename them in "wall1_1" and "wall1_2" (and both are using wall1.bmp)

UPDATE:

After a postponement due to exams, I've started work on the Stairs, However I think i'll have to rotate them 180* as they are above the seats rather than below :( Also I think now is be the time when I'll have to think about the details above the stairs, like the sky-box along the East stand and score-boards.

Also that vertical square is the roof which will have to bend along the cuvred line that you can see in the background.

And one more thing, I'm also going to have to make the exit tunnels (which have been given extra space at the bottom part of the stands), with the protection barriers that are going to be just like the fences that'll be at the end of the stands.

Oh oh, one last thing, what shud the dimensions of the back windows along the stands be, as i want them to be able to have banners placed in front of them :jap:

That's all for now (C)

Sorry Guys, Due to the fact that it was taking up too much space on my hard drive I had to unfortunately delete the 3dm files that I had and uninstall Rhino 3D, thus leaving me to annul this project untill further notice. :boohoo: Thanks for all those who gave their suport for this stad :jap:, maybe someone else will build this stadium in the future ;)

UPDATE:

Hey Guys,

Great News, I've decided to restart construction on the Skonto Stadium :D

Here's a screen: (NB I had to restart from scratch, but this is a big step. Hopefully $chwenker still has the .3ds with the Halle. :boohoo:)

As with Before, I still need to get the NW stand (Dark Red) to bend around the corner.
Also does anyone have advice on how to make the stairs that split and expand?
