i cant renew my contracts with some vital players because they want higher salary or a "deal they can not refuse"

my club is from peru so they want to move from the club but since their contract isnt protected their value is at $0. i dont want to sell them.

What Sould I do?:sun:

I think in that case there's no option but to let them go for free or keep trying to give them the highest fee possible :(

When their contract is nearly expired and nobody's interested in them, they often want to sign a contract much more easy.

If its a defender or DMC try offering the highest goal and assist bonuses, also dont transfer list them, it spoils their mood :). And like PSVFOREVER said when you get the message that they got only one week left on their contract offer a new one.

if the player favorite club was current club. usually have no problems to renew their contract or even reduce their wages. like rooney and c.ronaldo, i reduce their wages from 70k -> 50k, ferdinand from 75k -> 50k, nistelrooy from 75k -> 45k

no problems ;)

yeah thats what im doing now.

but if the release clause is higher, is it more likely the player would agree or disagree to the contract?

I think usually the player is more likely to sign if you have a high release clause, but it doesnt affect it as much as salary or bonuses ;)
I usually use release clause for its main purpose only, if someone is unhappy with the salary they know where the door is :)

And another thing while I still remember. When managing smaller clubs with lower prestige points, most good players are not interested in moving to ur club. In the case if you want so sign someone but he is **itching and refuses to go, offer to loan this player first or offer a trial if its a free agent. Somehow get him to ur club and play 3-4 games with him. After that offer contract again. Usually if player is marked as not needed or back up the clubs will let you loan him. Sometimes it works, sometomes it doesnt, its always good to try.

I once tried to extend Seitaridis' contract.

He had been payed around 40k p/w.He had asked for 95k.

Later, when the contract almost expired, I offered him a deal at 55k and he accepted.

When the contract isn't protected, but there is still over 6 months until it's expired, the player will ask for huge deals.
But when there's less than 6 months, other clubs don't have to pay anything for your player (if it's over 6 months, they have to pay his exact value), so he'll accept virtually any deal.

But as ngyc said, if the player prefers your club, there shouldn't be a problem.

I once cut Eto'o's wages from 110k to 75k.
