Linkin' Park know how to write songs, that's why they are so catchy.

You are too pessimistic about music. I had a friend once who started a band. They are called New Found Glory. They write the same **** they did when they first started, but are considered sell outs. He has since been kicked out of the band, years ago in fact. But just because something is formulaic and easy to understand doesn't make it ****ty.

I see what you're getting at, and to an extent I agree, too many trying the same idea and tagging along, but you'll get that in any genre which shows success.

So, do you not accept Pearl Jam were the far superior grunge band than Nirvana until Cobain's death? Let's face it, if it wasn't for his suicide they would be NOWHERE NEAR as famous as they are now.

Purely out of interest, what age are you? Because it's a well known fact that as you get older, EVERYTHING new is crap.

Who cares? Honestly, just listen to what you enjoy. I know its hard to ignore the fact that the music industry is pretty corrupt. I agree in the sense that it is very very hard for an unsigned act that slave their guts out on a stage to gain any noteriety anymore. That is due to the fact that record labels and such 'manufacture' acts to suit their marketing needs. They have more power and control and tell bands like Linkin Park what to do, wear, how to act and so on.

I do my best to ignore all that, i listen to music for the pure fact that i enjoy it. Sorry, i'll admit i do like an odd Linkin Park song, but who cares? I enjoy it. But hey, at least i can say it makes up about 5% of my musical interests, id rather pop on a Lostprophets, Rammstein, Fear Factory, Deftones, Slipknot, Machine Head, (old) KoRn, Weezer, Soundgarden, Bjork cd etc etc...

Its all about the music to me now. The way it should be i guess.

OK, well, from what I see that from your musical likes and dislikes that you believe music is a channel of mature, complex emotions, which is cool and all, but that's not for everyone. You'll also notice that there is an influx of pish "expresso bar" bands such as Starsailor and Coldplay, who specialise in dull riffs and bland lyrics, which I completely hate.

Fact is I believe music is an outlet for our feelings as well, however, this also applies to such "basic", perhaps immature, vibes which you get from such Pop-punk bands. Is there anything wrong with this? Think about that. To them, music is about having a good time, and if their lyrics are about a girl who they find hot or rejoicing drinking a lot of beer, so what? Emotions all the same, and if they love what they're doing, then good luck to them. If they're making a good buck from it? Even better. I know I'd swap positions with them in a second.

Ok, let that be the end of my barroom sociology.

I like Story of the Year. Don't talk **** about this band. They are good and actually play really good shows.

Linkin Park has good music as well, it's not groundbreaking, but it's good.

You seem to complain so much about MTV, If it wasn't for them who would now Nirvana. NOBODY. Face it they do a lot of bad to the music industry, but if it wasn't for MTV, all musicians would be **** poor.

Bands that i like (I'm into Emo-core, Screamo etc, it's a cross between Hardcore and Emo)

Thrice(best band in the world)

Strike Anywhere
so many more

I also like Nirvana, and believe me if it wasn't for MTV me nor you a 14 year old would know who the **** they were.

Hey dude, im not ranting and raving about 'how great' those bands are, nor am i trying to tell you what to listen to. Im just explaining its purely the fact its what i enjoy. Everyone is certainly entitled to their own opinion as far as music goes, and you obviously think most of the bands i listen to are ****, which is fair enough.

Musical taste is personal.

By the way i listen to Hendrix, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath etc...I pretty much grew up with that kind of music.
