I completely agree with fredhoer. Fifa 16 is still the best footy game gameplay wise, particularly if you play single player modes. Also, The modding possibilities put it ahead of more recent versions of fifa in terms of authenticity, licencing ect...
PES community has a long editing tradition, partly because of the lack of licences the game have and had for ages. PES 19 editing community is doing a terrific job and it is true that graphically PES 19 is superb, BUT gameplay wise, at least against the AI, the game is very very poor.
Players positioning throughout the pitch is a mess, leading to huge gaps and only end to end play. There is almost no midfield battle. The AI in attack is super repetitive, it almost looks like combos in fighting game. When you recognize the start of a combo, you know what will come next. Also because of the poor players positioning and marking, defending is super frustrating and the cpu exploits those massive gap that are here, not because of good football play, but because of poor programming. Then you have the player individuality (the way player perform according to their stats) which is almost inexistent. Slow players run as fast as quickest one and tank players are as agile as the likes of Messi. In fifa 16, you know that when you control Messi or Busquets you can't do the same thing.
If you add to that the awful scripting in Master league (every single PES 19 players is complaining about that), the broken transfer system transfer with super low release close, the stupid regen system, playing a Master league is boring after a week or two.
The last PES that was decent/good was PES17 but it was unfortunately released in a old generation engine on PC.
As for the fifa 16 community, I think is not as small as the activity on this forum would let us think. Fifa 16 is a great game (for me the best by far) it is just still to recent to be considered as a CLASSIC like PES3 to PES6. It is like with cars, they need some years to be considered as collection cars.
