What is wrong with FIFA (any series) and controllers. I'm sure they have a vendetta against 3rd-party gamepad makers. As long as good old Microsoft make the pads you're fine unless of course you are playing head to head on the same computer using the same type of controller, then you're screwed cos you can only map the same type of controller once.

What is up EA? What is the problem with using controllers on the PC and FIFA. You seem to be able to do it perfectly with NBA, Madden, NHL Hockey. What is the problem? Feeling a bit monolopistic with gamepads now? Are you taking bungs from Microsoft and Sony (ok logitech too) to force people to play the game on a console and actually play the game despite whatever type of controller your people have.

Sort it EA, you know it's possible and we know what you're upto. It's not too hard to add a few lines here and there for DirectInput to work. Sort it out for FIFA 2004.

I have a Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Power, and it's not working properly with FIFA 2003.

In NBA 2003 you use the freestyle-control with the right stick. This is suppose to work with FIFA 2003 but it doesn't.

I have installed it properly and all, but of course, it doesn't work.

I couldn't agree more, I just sent in a request to EA support about my Saitek P750 gamepad, and got back that FIFA2003 doesn't support SaiteK (although FIFA 2002 does, which really helps me a lot).

They sign, "hope this helps"...yeah..how? I still can't use the game unless I fork over some extra money to get a new gamepad. I guess I could use the keyboard, but come on, its a game, I want to use the game pad....what is going on with them?

Buy Gravis gamepads and you'll never complain (well, that's going a bit far) again.

Gravis is supported by EVERY freakin' developer and they're priced better than anything Microsoft puts out.

Can't go wrong with Gravis! :hump:

Actually, I have a Gravis Eliminator Pro, that I'll have to drag back out. But I have two problems with it:

1. It tends to always have the players move to my left slightly, not a major issue, but it precludes using the "shield ball" stuff when the player is at a halt, and it never seems to get fixed, even after calibration.

2. Using the Feestyle moves is damn hard, half the time I just end up with the player standing there like a clown.

Can you help?

Other than that it works decently well, I was just looking to upgrade with the Saitek. I guess I should have kept my money.

Logitech wingman precision usb here and damn the buttons are all mixed up , and worse I can not reassign them !!! save feature doesn 't work anyway when i try to set buttons on the game controller profile my Y button is C ....and so on ...EA should make a patch ...for this.

you can't be serious there has to be a way to change the button conf. on the controlers, i recently got the game and have an axis pad, which is supposely supported, but the freestyle and menu buttons are in horrible places, and i don't even have the head ball control, i just assumed it was just a matter of going into some setup file and changing some stuff(as in ut 2003), HOW COULD YOU PUT OUT A PC GAME WITHOUT A WAY TO ASSIGN EVERY CONTROL IN THE GAME, ESPECIALLY THE ONES THAT ARE OF SUCH IMPORTANCE. i mean the menu pops up everytime i push down to hard on the left analog (ps style) that is just horrible, love the game but come on ea that is crap

EA **** on generic gamepads

It happens with Generic Gamepads as it labels them as "Gamepad" and saves the button mapping so both and more generic gamepads have to use the same setup. This isn't a problem if you have 2 different (recognisable to FIFA) pads. I'm saying you're screwed if your mate wants to use different button mapping setup and uses another generic gamepad. FIFA won't allow you to separate mapping on separate generic pads. It's easy enough in other EA Sports games though.

Valioso ==> I tried the 4.20 wingman software and driver ...but as I said no ****ing use ... fifa doesn't give a damn about how i configure my pad , the buttons always remain ****ed up !!!

I found it the other way, i just recently got NBA and my psx controller, through a usb connection, doesnt map properly but its fine in FIFA

Freestyle Dont work at all

Hello again my dear friends,

I am totally ****ed up and exhausted of trying....

Now finally I have tried everything

-Fifa 2003 uninstalled and again a new installed
- files in the user catalogue deleted
- and at the end even tried with the keyboard

I run with the ball and nothing happens, even with pressed Z key with the MS Sidewinder - nothing, with the second analog stick of the Logitech Cordless Wingman Rumble Pad - nothing, and last but not least - with the keyboard pressing shift or return key and arrow keys nothing.

For me there are obviously no tricks. I have tried it with the MS Sidewinder, the Logitech Wingman Cordless Rumble and tried even with the keyboard (in german it says Umschalt key and arrow (this is fine either Shift or Return))

I could do with none of these combinations a trick, neither in the Arcade nor in the Simulation mode.

Is my game broken? Please, please, help me, I have this problem already since weeks, now I have already bought the fourth Gamepad to fix this issue but nothing happens....help help help

I have two Gravis Gamepad Pro's although sometimes one dissappears and I have to re-add it to my Games section in the Control Panel, but its all good ;)
