Hi again,
Do you know guys that FIFA 2003 has got two new buttons!
The first button does the auto-pass system, which means that the ball will go to the other player's foot automatically.

The second one will be for open-ended passes. So you can Through the ball in a free space to let your player run to take it.

Also there is an Info for the multiplayer.it movie:
EA Sports has announced that the shooting system in the videos we have seen was not completely finished and also other things.

that means that the movies don't show the real game.

You'd better wait the Demo.

Good point. Same as the Club Championship thing. That was in 99 too. Seems to me like they are taking alot from Fifa 99 and calling it new????

oh no, the power meter for passes was one of the few positive moves EA ever made....now that they took it out I smell some more 'pinball soccer' coming....just like in 99!

the fifa2002 passing system was the worst,everytime u wanted to pass,u had to stop,charge the power bar and then pass,the worst thing is that u could only pass in like 8 directions,so the ball was most likely to go out of the field,no matter how close u were to the players..in fifa 99 u had a fluid passing system similar to WE,which in my opinion is much better than the fifa2k2 one..

Yeah, personally I thought that the passing system in FIFA 2002 was pretty bad. Maybe if you had a gamepad it became better, but I played with the keyboard, and even the simplest passes on the wing would go out of bounds. Also, a lot of times the wrong player received the ball. I prefer the older system, although i believe the shooting and lob meter should stay. I'm really excited about this FIFA; its reminding me of the earlier ones, like RTWC. FIFA RTWC with FIFA 2003 graphics would be awesome...

I'm not sure whether these two 'new' buttons were the features (PSone) for FIFA 99. I'm pretty sure they didn't have it in PSone.

That's BS! you don't have to stop in order to pass or shoot!
For the wrong-player receiving the ball and out-of-boundaries thing, have you tried assisted passing system? Only thing to do with 8-way gamepads and keyboards. It's a compromise between the pinball-like passing system of 99 and earlier and the powerbar.

I found that the new passing system in fifa 2002 added realism. It supplied you with a wider range of passes, given that you play with an analog gamepad. The only restriction is the lack of time for charging up the powerbar on professional and world class level. EA seems to want to tackle this problem by supplying us with the best of both worlds. A fast auto pass when you don't have the reaction time and an self-aimed one you can use to reach players on the run to create openings.

I guess we have to wait how this system will work out, but I think it shows promise.

Is this just for the computer version, or for consoles as well?
I rather liked the fifa2002 passing system on ps2 compared with previous fifa outings and didn't find that I had to stop to pass the ball. As for complaints about the power-up time of the power bar, on the ps2 version of fifa2002 at least, the power up speed can be fully customised, so I don't see how its a problem. I share in the 'pinball football' concerns and hope that the game doesn't get too automated again as it was crap(er). Total passing control is much better.

I just read the U.K. Offical PSM2 magazine about FIFA 2003 (PS2)
testing gameplay (which already improved) with Isaac & one of the reviewer in that magazine.

I'm shocked that the buttons for FIFA 2003 is almost identical to the WE/PES series. :jambo:

R1 = Sprint.
Triangle = Through Pass, etc.
