New Kits 2007/2008

Kappa ain't that bad JJ
They are though...... not content with being absolutely sh*te at marketing, the kits they've produced for us have been mostly rubbish. The only ones I like were the home/away kits of 2002, the black away kit of 2005 and the current third kit. Everything else was either plain and boring, or in the case of the 2006 kit, absolutely bloody awful.

It's amazing to think that, sometime before 2000 Krappa used to make some really great kits, Juve and Barça for example in the 90's, now all they seem to do is recycle badly conceived designs on thin sh*tty material and tweak a bit here and there, or like the 05/06 range just take the 02/03 design and put a different logo on the front, how imaginative? Roll on August, new sponsorship deal with JJB comes into effect, even if it probably is Umbro making our kit, gotta be better than Krappa!

I've been noticing that very few teams have a standard away kit. Sevilla always have a shade of red as their away. The farthest we've deviated is with the red-orange kits from last season.

Any other teams?

I'm pretty sure AC Milan have always had white as their away kit. I know they've had a number of other colours in the past for third or even fourth kits. I can't think of any other examples, would have said Inter as well but they had a yellow away kit in 2003 so they won't count.

I'm confused about what color Liverpool will have as their away. A few people in my kit thread say Liverpool will have a yellow away as that is tradition...

I thought that 'green' kit was going to be the away.

And now this comes up...

WTF??!?!?! :(

I know Liverpool have worn yellow many times in the past, but their "traditional" away kit is white with red trim and black shorts, like the current away kit. It's a colour scheme that they had used for decades up until 1982, when the away kit was changed to the yellow kit that has been revived several times recently.

It could be argued that the yellow kit is "traditional" but I would say it certainly was a popular choice of colour that Liverpool used, and curiously enough many English club teams adopted yellow change kits during the 80's. However they first wore a yellow kit well before it became the official away kit..... strangely in 1966 at Anfield, when they had to wear an "emergency" yellow shirt in the second leg of a European Cup tie against Ajax. Back in those days the home team tended to change kit in the event of a colour clash in continental competition, and both the home and away kits clashed with Ajax's. The yellow kit was also used as a third kit in the 70's against teams who wore red and white, and in some FA Cup semi-finals.

Looking through the history of Liverpool's kits it does make sense to me that Adidas are going back in time with their choice of colours for the new away and third kits. The grey kit with red trim was first used in 1987 and used until 1991, during which time they won their last (to date) league championship, and the green kit was first used in 1991, and was a colour used in their away kits until the end of the previous Adidas sponsorship in 1996 (before Liverpool changed to Reebok). Since then they have worn écru (remember that one? (H)), amber and black, as well as white, yellow and green from before.

Lately it seems as if Adidas are making two away kits, one used in domestic competition, and the other for playing in Europe, which may also double up as a third kit. In which case, the green kit may get used in the Premier League when Liverpool play against teams in red and white, due to myopic officials (and you could argue the behest of television) regarding the grey kit as not being distinguishable enough from white.

Middlesbrough new home kit 08/09 (vote)

Looks like they'll be reverting back to the popular white chest band on the kit after playing this season in (almost) plain red.

So is errea going to make a choice for all of their big teams now???

You showed us the Crystal Palace choices earlier too...

Anyway, I like 2 and 3 the most, 3 being my favorite. I like it's simplicity (H)

I like B, its got a good balanced and A and C look like past Boro kits.

They are releasing quite a few aren't they?

No wonder they go for 30 quid from release.

New England Away Shirt teaser/release date:

Don't they look thrilled to be there!

I read an article a few days ago regarding JJB struggling to meet sales targets. Featured some quotes from their Chief Executive stating how dissapointed he was with the shirt when Umbro unveiled it to him As a result of that (and England failing to qualify for the Euro's) they've ordered the lowest number of shirts this century! (:/)

Probably be the same template as the CSKA shirts further up the page.

Pretty boring IMO if so. You'd think they might put a bit more imagination into the England shirts, seeing as they're their biggest sellers. The last home and away shirts have just been 'template' efforts and could pass off as West Brom/West Ham/Nottingham Forest etc training shirts if you changed the badges.

P.S. No i'm not planning on getting it. Not at £40 any way, especially as it sounds like it'll be a bit on the crap side. Picked up the current home shirt in the January sales for £5. Guess that's one perk of not qualifying!

Those Arsenal kits look stunning.

And kitbag and a lot of other sites already have the England home kit at half price, I wouldn't pay 20 quid for an away one either.
