the red one was exclusively for the three friendlies leading up to the world cup. they weren't going to wear it again after that.

Scotland's away kit look odd... i would like to see it in action... dont get to see it in oz. :p

The newcastle utd kit looks good. Nice and simple, like the older version during the early -mid 90's

The shirt itself looks okay... the back apparently is solid black though which is really crap!

And the shorts are totally horrid!!
I blame UEFA for that, they are so AGAINST stripes on the back for some bizarre reason only beknowns to them. Killing tradition. Toon in plain black from the back is just so so wrong!

i imagine UEFA is against that because of TV reasons

have you ever seen the striped river plate kit with the adidas numbers?

UEFA discourages stripes because they make it more difficult to read players' numbers. (the number has to contrast with two colors instead of one). I'm not saying it's right, but it makes some sense.

Our team suposively had a rift with our previous kit makers Joma, because their adboard was not present during the finals of the USL game at Rochester which was nationally televised on FSC and Rochester did not control the adboards for that game. So we now have switched to Score:eek:

That's the apparent reason but I think its totally BS.

Most teams in La Liga have numbers on stripes, also some teams in the Coca-Cola Championship as well. Hell, anyone who watched Celtic on television before the 90's never had problems, and they never wore shirt numbers at all up til then, and the quality of television cameras were much worse!!

Seen a number of teams' kits ruined by this totally daft idea, Its lame and killing off tradition. SAVE OUR STRIPES (and hoops, and whatever).

I think UEFA pressures on that only in the european cups, in the case of Newcastle it may be an issue with "The FA".

But in reality i don't know whose fault is, in Argentina for example, AFA doesn't really mess with the way the shirts of the teams look, except that the numbers should be visible for the referee and the linesmen and that they can get a shirt combination that doesn't with the other team(names is a different issue because they aren't mandatory they are optional, and few teams wear names basically the ones that take part in cups, because they are forced to use names in them), however in some cases it pisses off the commentators, like SlowHand mentioned the River Plate's stripped shirt. But in my opinion as soon as referees can see the numbers the commentators should piss off and mind other details that need fixing more important than the colour of the numbers of the shirts.

Here a shirt that usually pisses off commentators, Estudiantes LP, home 07/08.

Apparently they are keeping their away one for another year.
