hey NK, great update. I have a quick question about the shotting though. It seems that every shot I take outside the 18 yard box doesnt have much on it. I was wondering if this is me not used to the system yet, as I just switched from we1 where balls were blasted from everywhere with only a slight tap of the shot button. So I still only just tap the botton. I know that I am still getting used to the aiming of shots thats a bit more sensitive, but nothing over the top and actually makes the game quite fun. I just havent had any of the shots that are screamers like from scholes or lampard or gerrard (which happen to be my favorite).

Please note that I am NOT complaining about the shooting or shot mechanics at all, just asking if its me or if this is what you intended, because either way, I still think it makes for a great update.

The shot mechanic allows a bit more power to be placed. However, it is sensitive and difficult to get used to. But with practice, like pfk505, Tizmo and others you will pop them in :)

No problem man. Thank you for making this great gameplay update. A couple things though. I dont know how much you plan on altering the ball physics, but will it have an effect on shot power? I am still having a difficult time producing a scorcher at all, close or not. Unless the ball rolls to me from a save or deflection it just seems like there is nothing behind the shot at all. I want to be able to (and i know i used too in we1) control the ball with scholes from outside the 18 yd box and just hit it to the top corner. Now, whenever I get the ball in space it almost seems like im doing a lob pass on goal.

Also, Ive had a couple of breaks on goal that didnt produce anything, which is great, dont get me wrong. But it wasnt broken up by good defense or anything. I had a break with ronaldo from the right side, got about 6yds out and took a shot. I was angling in on goal and didnt expect much to come of it, except when i took the shot it was like he was taking it straight to the crowd. I dont know how to give you a visual, but it was almost a 45 degree shot difference for no reason at all. I dont mind missing shots, in fact it makes the game better, but i also dont want to feel like im being cheated also. This happened when the cpu defense had a mishap and i got a break with rooney. this was STRAIGHT on goal and i took a shot from about the pk dot. The same thing happened, the ball came off his foot and went WAY right. Im not saying rooney should hit the target everytime, but that was rediculous.

I know this may be just a limitation of the fifa engine, so dont think i am in any way blaming you, but if you could look into making the misses more 'believeable,' then I will be eternally grateful. Also, could you explain to me whats different between we3 action and regular we3? I know that its 'easy to score' but is that cause you changed the shooting or changed the keepers/ anything else?

Oh, on a side note, everytime there is a change all my players dissappear. I dont know if this has to do with your update or not, but its the only thing ive changed recently. And the framerate is quite choppy. IDK? Just thought id bring it up.

Yeah man I know what you're talking about there. This isnt much different from the past 2 updates, in fact like NK said it is possible to use a lil bit of power now where before you couldnt do more than just tap the shot button. 1 time shots have a good amount of power but a shot from open play not so much. But yeah, try to put a bit of power on it, I've scored a few from just outside the box but no 30+ yd. scorchers as of yet. This will depend alot on the 'shot power' attribute of the player taking the shot (so if youre playing with lower league teams as I do youre gonna notice weak shots).

That doesnt sound like a problem with NK's update, sounds like a game issue. The only bug I ever get with NK's update is on occasion the ball physics go nuts and the game becomes unplayable (ball sticks to players and doesnt go anywhere when you shoot).

Hey guys, Nick Clubman here! Also known as NK.

As you may have read I am producing an update to World Evolution 3. This will be based on these main area's of play;

*Ball physics in passing and other area's to replicate a more natural flow of play and build-up.

*Tweaked cpu for improved shots and defending

*Tweak shooting system for more difficulty

*Tweaked goalkeepers for more scorchers.

Now, the aim for WE3.1 (TBC) is to have the game purely based on the difficulty of breaking the defence and getting the shot on goal. Beating the keeper won't be as challenging. The realism in goalkeeper reaction times will be far more natural.

Today, I have scored a 35yrd scorcher with Liverpool against AC Milan. I got the ball, found some space, powered up and it dipped beautifully as the keeper was hopeless, as he would be in real-life with a accurate top-corner shot. He's not going to save it!

I have now tweaked the shooting to make it harder to do such a shot, but when you do and it's heading for goal, there' a greater chance you'll score a beauty, but this will be harder to do. Balancing is very important.

I don't want 5-5 scores with all long shots going in! So this won't be a problem. But they will happen much more often.

Just lost 3-1 to Brazil with England. Brazil scored a free-kick, then a well worked goal inside the box, and then converted a header. 3-0 down. It's over. but then I managed to string some beautiful play together and got a great pass to Rooney after having to turn the defender. Rooney ran up the box and I hit it outside the area and to the keeper bottom left. He wasn't touching it!

Felt great and deserved. 3-1, fair result.

Nick... thank you so much for your work. My only big complaint with all soccer games, is the amazing stamina the players have by always running to the ball. In real life, players give you space, especially when you are in the midfield. Is this possible to change? I am not sure if it is, but it would be great if it was. It would let you pass the ball around and keep possession just like real life with the defenders being in front of you, but not rushing you to try and strip you of the ball all the time.

Hey there buddy.

I see what you mean. The difficulty here is giving the user the time and space, yet preserve the challenge to maintain the pressure and level of emotion. It could be either one or the other; e.g Give the user space to build up, but the game becomes too easy --OR-- Give the user little time on the ball and the game becomes too hard.

I believe WE3 gets closer to the balance of play. But as for your request, I will make sure I put time into developing this side of play, as it is very important. But I cannot guarantee results! I will keep you posted on this mate.

EDIT: It has always being one of my priorities to make the user work for the space, rather than give the cpu a set-time to not want possession of the ball. I'm sure you see what I mean here.

if there was a way of programming the players to give you space when you are sitting back with the ball in the midfield, or for most of the early parts of the game, etc. I guess my blame goes to the developers themselves for not really making it realistic, Thank you for seeing what you can do. It would make it more fun to keep possession and slowly work up the field trying to pick through the defense, instead of having to continue to pass pass pass constantly because everyone sprints towards you

just played my first match Juventus 4 - 3 Livorno

some nice goals scored, I was Juventus. Professional Difficulty.

No complaints so far, though the AI makes some weird defending choices sometimes.

I believe this is also a limitation of the fifa 07 coding. I'm not sure, and i only say this because they (the people working on fifa 08) said they want to create this type of atmosphere in Fifa 08. Being able to turn the speed on and off like a switch.

hey nk,

sorry to keep posting this, but i believe your update is causing the recent stuttering problems im experiencing. I recently reverted back to we1 which didnt give me problems before, and still isnt giving me problems now. I, at first, thought that it was the stadiums taht was giving me my problems seeing as how i just converted everything to 1g, but then i got the same stuttering while playing in old trafford, a fifa created stadium. I was just wondering if you could look into this buddy. Thanks and cheers

It's not usual for this to happen and nothing to affect the stutter has changed from WE1 to WE3

So I will attempt to iron this problem out and make sure it's properly tested.

These issue's are usually found out during the testing, but if the beta testers don't have these problems, then it won't get back to me until the final copy is public.

You're welcome bud.

Some news on the latest effort. The game is playing better, slightly. The new cpu tweaks are increasing the cpu's ability to create a quicker attack and create a chance. The defending is also a bit sharper, which is always good.

There are no major changes as of yet, the main change is with the goalkeepers allowing more spectacular goals to be scored. But as previously posted, this won't be easy to do. But of course, like in reality very possible. Even against the best goalkeeper, they can all be beaten by a great shot. Something that wasn't really evident in WE3, but most certainly will be in 3.1.

Oh and 3.1 may not be the name, just a dub-name for now.

The 'scorcher' goal promised in WE3.1 are now stopped in development. This is because my main beta tester Paul, informed me that already in WE3 he has scored many beautiful long-rang goals. Which suggests no need of a lower skilled cpu goalkeeper. In fact I've now made them harder to increase game difficulty.

Not to worry, the game is very well balanced like WE3. This is simply a quick update, but one which could make all the difference between winning in WE3 and draing/losing in WE3.1 :) It's all about getting more out of you to make you feel rewarded and challenged.

i dont necessarily think this is a good thing. Im sorry if you misunderstood my posts to begin with, but i was not complaining of the inability to score, but rather the lack of realizism that i did score with from long range because the shot power was rather low. It seemed to float in like i was doing a lob pass on goal. There have been many times when the keep would actually dive PAST the ball and i would score that way.

On that note, I would LOVE to see the keepers become more difficult to beat, especially on 'action,' because i believe that the shooting on that mode is most realistic compared to real football.

Sorry if this post comes off as angry and rude, as that is not the intention. I just wish to clarify my earlier posts and hopefully help you see that my complaint was not with the keepers.
