Fifa is improving a lot, but in my opinion, except sound+commentary, still behind Winnin Eleven, even those on PS1

juce_66 said:agreed. ISS Pro Evo on a PSX emulator still beats any FIFA version hands down.
deKerf said:Well you thought wrong HaterNob. It's coming out for PS2, PSP, Xbox 360 and PC according to PESInsight.com.
It was also mentioned in the X06 Gamespot Impressions article that the 360 version will look the best of the bunch. Now that most likely means that the PC version will look like the PS2 version as has been the case in past years though nothing is certain. Which brings up the seemingly eternal issue of Konami's horrendous communication with its customers, particularly it's PC customers, and this whole demo business is just the latest example of their incompetance in this area.

I remember thinking when PES3 came out how great the game would be by PES5/PES6 but to be honest, I think PES3 was more fun, had less cheating and the ML structure was better. What did we get last year, auto-sidesteps, no crowd, no weather in league/cup games, fouls every 30 seconds and the amazing "gravity ball" whereby the ball automatically attracts itself when lose to the CPU controlled player to a higher degree depending what skill level you're playing on.
Can't wait to see what bugs they've given us this year. Konami have got lazy. It may be the best soccer game in the world but they clearly have taken their foot off of the accelerator and don't seem interested in progress. How many years have we been asking for a better ML structure or at least a more customizable one where you can select the number of divisions, etc. A lot of you might think FIFA is crap but look what they did this year, a realistic handball system, dynamic weather, improved (but still behind Konami) gameplay, etc. At least EA listened to the most common complaints, Konami haven't listened to one single thing we complained about last year.
This will definitely be one to download because if they can't be bothered to release a demo then I'm not parting with my money to risk buying basically a bug-fix to PES5.

The best time is in the beginning; after that, too many other interests get in-between the production of a game about football and that outcome...too many disparate and diffuse concerns must be met.
Thus, FIFA 07 and PES6 aren't produced just - or even MAINLY - for lovers of football and lovers of gaming, but they represent a need to satisfy shareholders, affliates, licensees, bosses, employees, and a whole host of other corporate and corporatised entities. They are a compromise. That a decent game gets out of that quagmire at all, ever, is a tribute to the humanity of the developers who do understand their environment, and struggle upwards against the night.
[This is the most cost-effective, but least creative, method of producing games; yet, if the games are still being bought up, worldwide, why challenge that? And certainly the very model of business won't be examined.
Brennan's Law: a footie game's quality and evolution is inversely related to the intensity of corporate metrics involved in production. Ask Seabass to describe the environment he and his team worked in in developing PES3 and the earlier version of the game, and the environment they work in now.
Therein lies the difference. The expectations are that all game development comapnies adopt the EA model; minute, incremental adjustments to game engines, while employing the PR sideo fthe house to mollify hard-core enthusiasts whose reactions might influence larger swaths ofthe game-buying population across the board.
