Newcastle United target Stephen Carr has admitted he is excited at the prospect of moving to St James' Park.
Carr is on the verge of a move to Newcastle after The Magpies agreed an undisclosed fee with Tottenham for the Republic of Ireland international.

The right back has travelled to Tyneside for a medical and could tie up a move in the next 48 hours.

Carr is excited at joining Newcastle, but is waiting until the move is totally finalised before elaborating on the subject.

"I am very excited about joining Newcastle, but I have got a medical and, hopefully, it will go well and I will get through it," Carr told Sky Sports News.

"I would rather not talk about it as I have to prepare for a medical.

"I am very excited and hopefully it all goes through."

Carr could be in line to make his debut this weekend at Middlesbrough if he agrees personal terms and passes his medical.

behind Gary Neville of course ;)

You mean the Gary Neville who didn't know what in the hell he was doing on Sunday against us?

You gotta be kidding.
Carr is probably, yes, the best right-back in the EPL.
Then comes Lauren and then if you like, G. Neville. :p

Many Newcastle fans seem to be a little disapointed with the signing of Carr ... hoping that we'd maybe get Miguel or Trabelsi.

Personaly i've been hoping we'd get Carr for a long time, since the speculations started. Just hope his medical will go well.

I agree with the order of players. One of the main reasons why I think Carr is better than Lauren and Neville is because he played for a team that comes under attacks at the back more often that what Neville or Lauren would do at there clubs, so Carr has alot more defending to do in a match, but still manages to perform at a high level. He is superb, I wish him all the best for the future.
