This game was definitely the best performance so far. There was two great goals, especially Barrera's goal. He and Gio need to be getting more caps. I'd love to see Gio as a right winger-pseudo second striker replacing Arce agains the US. I think he would have a bigger impact than him. He squanders too many chances.

There was still a lot of holes on defense, though. Ochoa bailed out the defense a few times, and they still kept making mistakes. Had that been against a stronger side we'd be looking at two or three goals allowed. They better shape up.

FINAL: Torrado, Giovani, Vela, Gringo, and Franco

Why Castillo? That man doesn't even play "canicas" for his team:icon_spin:

Rest of it looks good I guess.

No Pavel Pardo? Hmm, interesting. I don't really see anything wrong with this list except Medina, but I guess if he hadn't called him, he would've called up Arce. Both are dead weights, so I guess it doesn't matter as long as neither actually get on the field.

My preferred line up would be:

-------------Ochoa-----------------
Osorio---Rafa/Magallon--Galindo--Salcido
------------Torrado-----------------
------------Cuauh----------Guardado
Gio----------------------Vela-----
------------Franco----------------

The list of call-ups for the respective games vs. Costa Rica and Honduras on the 5th/9th of September:

Guillermo Ochoa Portero (América)
Jesús Corona Portero (Cruz Azul)
José Antonio Castro Defensa (Tigres)
Efraín Juárez Defensa (Pumas)
Jonny Magallón Defensa (Chivas)
Aarón Galindo Defensa (Chivas)
Ricardo Osorio Defensa (Stuttgart)
Héctor Moreno Defensa (AZ Alkmaar)
Carlos Salcido Defensa (PSV Eindhoven)
Oscar Rojas Defensa (América)
Israel Castro Medio (Pumas)
Gerardo Torrado Medio (Cruz Azul)
Andrés Guardado Medio (Dep. La Coruña)
Pablo Barrera Medio (Pumas)
Giovani dos Santos Delantero (Tottenham)
Nery Castillo Delantero (Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk)
Guillermo Franco Delantero (S/E)
Miguel Sabah Delantero (Morelia)
Cuauhtémoc Blanco Delantero (Chicago Fire)
Néstor Calderón Delantero (Toluca)

As fans we're quick to point out who was left out and point the finger to those who don't get our approval, so is the case with this call-up. Contrary to what I've said, Nestor Calderon's call-up pleases me very much although some ''journalists" say it's too early for him to wear 'la verde' but I don't believe his call up automatically emphasizes he should be a starter, it's more like setting up the ground work so that when it's his time to shine, he'll have all the leberties to demontrate his talent.

In the not too distant future, I see some very bright prospects raising their hand with their current forms of play. Examples: Javier 'chicharito' Hernandez (Chivas); Edgar Pacheco (Atlas); Raul Nava (Toluca); Elias Hernandez (Morelia); Enrique Esqueda (America); Armand Pulido (Tigres); Abraham Carreño (Monterrey); Pablo Barrera who was called up (Pumas); and one of my favorites to watch Christian Bermudez (Atlante).

All of them attaking mids, winger-forwards, or strikers. Who said the offensive talent was lacking Mexico? It's a matter of giving them playing time and reducing the number of internationals allowed to be signed by teams, I think reducing the number to 4 instead of the 5 that are currently allowed, considering that one tournament ago, 6 were still allowed, would be ideal in order to have these players affirm themselves as prominet players for the 2014 WC.

Nery Castillo was once more called up?...wtf!!

Who will be the ref for the Honduras vs T&T game? I'm sure it won't be a Mexican since Chiquidracula was accused of thief and what not..lol..I think the Hondurans were right though..Mexico will try anything to make it to the WC.

I like the fact that more and more younger players are being called up for important games. I especially liked Hector Moreno being called up, as well as Pablo Barrera. I also want to see what Calderon can do if he gets to play some. He looks like a good pacey attacking mid, which would possibly work well together with the likes of Gio and Guardado.

My only question is why has Cuauhtemoc been called up when there's an over-abundance of young attackers. I think eventhough he helps the team with his experience and leadership, but at the cost of a potential young player getting valuable experience in these types of games. Also as far as free kicks, Pavel Pardo is a much more dangerous FK taker, so I don't understand that angle. I know Israel Castro has done really well taking his spot, but I would rather have him over Cuauh at this point.

Oh yeah, and I wonder why Vela wasn't called up. So far he hasn't been playing with Arsenal, so unless he picked up an injury that I don't know about, his exclusion leaves me puzzled. He has been playing really well when he has been given the chance. I would have much rather given him a call up over Nery if it had anything to do with lack of space.

Really good result for an away game. That field was so ****ty, they might as well have played in concrete. I'm just glad there were no injuries, those ****ers threw elbows all game. The defense was solid, but Costa Rica couldn't piece together even one good attack. They were terrible. I won't be surprised if they stay fourth and get raped by a COMENBOL team.

Gio was great. He gave Guille and Guardado tap-ins for goals. Also Efrain Juarez, Salcido and Osorio played well. Cuauh was effective the first half, then became completely invisible in the second. I think it'll be a blessing in desguise to have him sit out on Wednesday's game. Th attack is centered around him too much. Sometimes it's a good, but the team becomes one dimensional, which is what happened in the first half at times.

I'd love to see Hector Moreno as DM instead of Torrado. Doubt it would happen, but it would be nice to see him play. I also wouldn't mind seeing Barrera play on the right, Guardado on the left and leave Gio play an open attack role - that seemed to work really well. Then as the ST have Sabah or even Nery. The Franco project is done. Too bad he scored, which means he's gonna play next game.

I want a 3-0 or more score. The game in Honduras was a disaster. The team is way better now, and I don't think Honduras will do **** in Azteca. Should be interesting.

Maybe this line-up, seems like these are who Aguirre seems to have most confidence in...

----------Ochoa
-----Osorio------Magallon
-Castro----------------Salcido
------Juarez---I.Castro
------------------------------
DoSantos--Temoc--Guardado
-----------Sabah

I would much rather see Moreno play LCB than having Osorio because the Honduran strikers are physically strong and much taller than Osorio (1.74) at the most. Moreno is something like 1.83 and physically strong so he can defend better in the air against set plays, one of the areas that most hurts us.
