We are delighted to announce that we have agreed a deal to bring Michael Carrick to the club.

Carrick, 23, has been signed from West Ham on a four-year deal that remains subject to a medical.


The midfielder has already chalked up over 150 appearances for West Ham and earned two full England caps.


Sporting Director Frank Arnesen commented: "Michael is a big English talent and we're very pleased to sign him, particularly at his young age.


"Technically he is very good, a great passer of the ball who can go left or right and with him we have a very strong midfield. We have high-quality competition for places and that's something any top club needs."

Oh man, I'm so happy. What a talent he is. That's our left side of midfield problem sorted. Spurs are finally getting a good strength in depth in midfield. Great signing. :hump: :rockman: :mrpimp:

stupid spurs, oh well, at least we have fuller, the carrick affair lasted long enough, and i am glad that at least now it is over and pompey can now move on to some new signings,

Quite honestly, I am not too bothered about Carrick leaving. He is a super passer, no doubt, but when the chips are down you won't even know he's there. As for solving your left sided problems, Spurs4Life, you must be joking. The guy is CM through and through, couldn't play on the left to save himself. Can't tackle, poor workrate, I can't say I'm too displeased about losing him for 3.2 mill.

Ummmm no. If they aren't good enough they get exposed by playing for a weak team in a tough league. Now they look great because they play in a division below. Rebrov and Zamora are useless.

Rebrov was quality and good and I can't see why Zamora couldn't make an impact like Stead. It's maybe because Spurs didn't play them regularly.

Haha sour grapes ;) We signed Carrick because he is young and very talented, and we definately need him in midfield. Defoe, Carrick,Naybet and Mendes are all very good signings.
