Offside Bug

This has happened to me twice now and was wandering whether anyone else has spotted this.
I have been past the last defender with the ball and pulled the ball back to another player who is also beyond the last defender. The computer calls it offside. The ball has definitly travelled backwards and the player I have passed to has always been behind the player with the ball. I can't believe Konami didn't spot this. I cant remember this ever happening in pes 3 or 4. Maybe it was there and I just didn't notice it.

it dont happen to me, are you sure the original player wasnt offside., i have however noticed that sometimes in normal offside circumstances, the players foot is not actually over the red offside line, sometimes just an arm or even the players chest is past the last player, i thought it supposed to be the feet

Just like throw-ins. The referees see everything, the ball is a little touched by a defender, a normal referee wouldn't see that, this referee does.

But that off-side bug, i have the same problem. But i don't usual play the ball back when i'm past the defence

there must be at least 2 defenders in front of the attacker. If not its offside even if the attacker is behind the ball. This can happen for example when the keeper comes out his goal.

As a matter of fact he doesn't. How many times did you see one side clearly touch the ball last, yet the throw in goes to his team. happens to me almost once a match. mostly when there are deflections. this works in both directions (CPU and human), so it's not really a cheat.

But with offsides, there I agree, the ref (or better: the non-existent linesmen) can tell you it has been offside when only the tip of someone's toe is further towards the goal. it's too robotic. one would wish for a little randomness here too, because many a times a wrong offside call has decided a game.

You mean a too correct offside call. Konami just got to turn the notch down abit. But then again there are too many to pleas. Some like it to be absolutely precised others want it abit more realistic(means the slightest offsside call aren't always made).

While for throw in, the referees do make mistakes. At times, the ball could be already out of the touchline slightly(even pause to check and zoomed in) but play was let to continue. And ofcourse the throw decision for the opposite team when it's not supposed to be. I'm not complaining on this cause it adds the zest to the game.

Are you sure about FIFA changing the rules? I'm pretty positive that if the offside rule does not apply on passes where the ball travels backwards

I don't think it matters whether the ball travels backwards or forwards...

If both players are behind the defense and the player with the ball is not offside, then he can lay it off to a teammate as long as the teammate was BEHIND the BALL when the ball was passed.

I was pretty sure that was the current rule, but I could be wrong...

There's also an offside bug from Corners in this game.

I was Roma, friend was Man U. It was my corner Scholes stood on the line before I even took it. Van Der Sar comes out misses the ball. ball bounces to Montella who is behind everyone except Scholes who is still on the line, not moving. Montella scores but gets called offside despite Scholes' position.

but sometimes refs make mistakes in real life.. so I'm used to this.. dont think about the mistakes too much and accept them as if you are playing in real world :drevil:

A definite offside related bug noone mentioed is that it gets called even if it wasn't player passing to teammate in an offside position but also if ball bounces of an oposite team's player. :nape:

Its becuase he is offside when ur teammate passes the ball eventhough it bounces on the opponent...had he been onside when the pass was made it would have been ok!

if van der Sar was behind montella at the moment the ball was played it was offside even if scholes was in front of him.
I highly doubt there is a offside bug in pes5, I just think you guys dont know the offside rules well

I have been called offside once when my player clearly was onside. I think it was a bug. I was playing against my friend and one of his players was running from the corner flag (don't know what he was doing there) towards my half. This player was still about 10 meters closer to his own goal than my player when the pass was made.

I always thought the offside thing was intentionally put in, to mimic refs making mistakes. I could be wrong though...
