Personally, I don't hate EA Sports. I love John Madden Football by EA Sports and every year the game has got much better in graphics and gameplay. It's a great product.
I'll continue to buy every John Madden game each year but this is the last FIFA I will ever buy. EA Sports have screwed over people this year with the gameplay. They've exceeded themselve graphically but in terms of gameplay, it sucks big time. Come on, not being able to freaking header the ball unless a CPU player is up your butt is a joke. One that EA Sports refuse to even bother releasing a patch for.
Part of praising Konami on here and degrading the EA Sports FIFA series is to spread the word to people and allow them to play and enjoy a real soccer game. Yes, a lot of people buy FIFA because they love editing but for those out there who want a soccer game to play soccer and feel like they are the ones playing it throughout the game, not the CPU then Konami is for them. PES2 and WE6 make the gameplay in FIFA 2003 look severely retarded.
EA Sports are a great company and their soccer series has unbeatable graphics but the gameplay is pure crap. If FIFA 2004 is fantastic then I'll get it, there is no bias. The problem is that FIFA 2003 had more bugs then every previous version of FIFA combined and EA Sports didn't want to make up for it with a patch. Their message was "screw you sucker, just buy FIFA 2004 and see if we've made any changes". I'm sure this is the last year that anybody believes that the demo isn't a replica of the full version. This time round, if the demo is buggy we know that it's gonna have the same crap in the final product.
Ask yourself this question: do you want improved graphics over this years version or improved gameplay? You sure as crap won't get both. If the FIFA fans don't petition EA to change then nothing else will work. Look forward to not being able to header the ball, the CPU taking over even more of the game, no creation center and more incompatability problems.
