Breaking news on Sky Sports News. Following another knee injury he's called it a day.

Well, it was about time really. He's had magnificent career, but with so many injuries the last years it's a wise decision. He's been a great ambassador for both Manchester United and the Norwegian national team for many, many years. He will be remembered as one of Norway's greatest players ever. Thank you Solskjær. Wow. I feel like crying. What a guy, what a player. He scored the most important goal in our history. I hope the club offers him a coaching position, since he is supposed to be a potential manager by Alex Ferguson's opinion. He also helped Man Utd in identyfying Magnus Wolff Eikrem as a youth signing.

if anyone deserves retirement*, he does. he always busted his arse for United, and came up with all the right goals at all the right times, and the last years can't have been easy for him.
* not that he's actually retiring: I believe he gets an automatic slot on their coaching staff now, doesn't he?

edit:
added thought: how stupid do we look now for offloading smithy? with rooney injured, saha as fragile as chinaware, and solskjaer retired, we could really use him up front....

Help?

That's a sad day for football and especially Manchester United. He was such a great character. One of those players that the opposition would feel ashamed to tackle hard.
