Yeah i agree. Maniche was pretty good but McCarthy was Porto´s best player in my opinion. Class performance and he surely deserved to get his name as a goal scorer during the 90 minutes. Both disallowed goals were so clear, if i was McCarthy i would get extremely pissed and prolly lose my concentration because of such blatant referee mistakes. But he kept going and trying to score and that shot that hit the bar was phenomenal.
What a difference btw McCarthy´s shadow years in Celta and his Porto performances. Awesome player.

I agree that the Linesmen (Peru and Paraguay) made some mistakes.....but they had some really tough angles at times.
They did well all around though it seemed that they were kinda going easy on Once Caldas.

Im kinda surprised how well the Uruguayan ref did today. Calm like any other day. His red card to Diego was justified.

All 3 refs were as good as the UEFA ones last year.

But the game........it would have been REALLY unjust if Once won. Like last year.....Boca actually deserved to tie and even win. They deserved to go to PKs cause of their brilliant defending and midfield.

But Once made me depressed to be cheering for them. I only felt sad when Once players were crying (breaks the heart...poor guys).
Like guys.....if your gonna defend....atleast defend right. (Sloppy as hell).

Congrats Porto....last Intercontinental champs (although it will prob return)

RIP Toyota Intercontinental- Nacional 1981- Porto 2004 :rockman:

EDIT: Dont you guys think that they should get rid of some of the championships to have this World Club Cup??

I mean....they already have enough competition with: UEFA Cup...Champs LEague....League.....League Cup.......Practices........National team Practices.......National team friendly games........National Team Qualifyers......etc...............Like: Holy **** eh?

They should get rid of the UEFA Cup and the Copa Sudamericana to have this....also shorten the World Cup qualifyers in South America. Just so much traveling.

what do u guys think?

He had a small heart problem indeed. Was taken to the hospital but it wasn't found anything serious.

the uefa cup winners will not play in the future world cup so i don't see the relation. and if the uefa cup is extinct the majority of the clubs will not have european games. it's enough that uefa ended with the Cup Winners Cup

To me, the only competition in serious need of being scraped is the Confed Cup. It's at best a pointless B-Team competition that does little more than clog up an already full calendar.

i got a question about that cup.
i had heard that the title for "World champion" that year was void for that cup and instead given to Boca Juniors (who beat Real Madrid in the final a month before) and thats why that cup was then considered a "Friendly World tournament" instead of world champ.

Im pretty sure thats true. (Either way I still always kid around my Brazilian friend <who is a corinthians fanatic> when i tell him that they arnt world champs. :p

Yeah, that tournament was ridiculous. Vasco had a good team but they wouldnt beat that Man Utd (the CL champions, the treble team) 4-0 in a normal game. I'll miss the Intercontinental.

First, cheers to all who had a kind word for me. (Y)

Second, I heard the game on the radio while driving, and it's far worse than watching it on the tv or even live. It absolutely destroys your nerves. I remember hearing the words 'Jorge Costa steps up to take the pk' and turning off the radio... :)

Fortunately we won, and thankfully it was well deserved. I got to see a replay of the game sunday night and I don't think anybody disputes our win.
By going to penalties after missing so many chances during the 120m of play and still being mentally stronger just shows what character our men are made of!

Thanks for making me proud again!

FORÇA PORTO!
