I have a petition asking Konami to ignore your petition. I have a feeling they're more likely to listen to my petition.

Lan just encourages piracy.
don't you know some moron will talk about how lan parties should only need one copy or how gaming competitions need only one copy and that they shouldnt have to buy more than one for that use  but I agree, lan does encourage piracy and I know there are tons on here who didnt buy the game and then they wonder why Konami doesnt have all the licenses

Removal of LAN/Direct IP option simply means that people who don't have a good enough internet connection won't be able to play multiplayer games... That's a hell of a lot of people.

If you actually read the petition, it suggests including the lan option only AFTER the CD-Key has been verified on Konami's servers... you don't need a good speed internet connection for that, you just need an initial internet connection.

I'm sure that there are people who want the LAN/Direct IP feature put back in purely so that they can download the game, but the fact remains that this petition is not asking Konami to allow people to play pirated copies so get off your moral high grounds and wake up to the fact that Konami have shafted a lot of their legitimate users by removing this function and stop accusing everyone who wants this feature re-instated of being a bunch of crooks.

If you don't have a good connection, you shouldnt be playing online. As for multiplayer, how hard is it for a person to have two gamepads on their PC, bam you have multiplayer.

I'll get off my moral high grounds when you can come up with a good reason.........

Which is why people choose to play on LANs. As there is no current alternative, they'll keep lagging people out online.

One of the main arguments for this is camera angles, my nephew refuses to play on wide camera angle, you may well say "get over it" .... but when we have bought 2 copies of the game, why SHOULD we have to play on the same PC and have to battle for control over the setup of the game? This argument is even more prominent when it comes to LAN partys... 10 people all playing on the same PC?

I don't see why people have a problem with fellow PES fans wanting to push Konami to make the game better, I'm not talking about wanting players to have the right names, better kits etc... Network play is a fundamental part of a game like PES. The irony is, that there would probably be more signatures on a petition for them to obtain licenses.... a purely aesthetic inclusion.

I don't want to be a arse here or anything, but why should people have to play on the same PS2 or Xbox and have to battle for control over the setup of the game? :jap:

With all due respect, what's that got to do with this petition/discussion?

If I wanted to share, I'd have bought the PS2 version... but because I didn't want to share I bought the PC version. Konami have taken out a feature that was previously available without giving any warnings that this feature would be removed. It's a feature that's available in just about every other mainstream game going (including FIFA).

All this petition is trying to do is make Konami aware that there are users that would like this feature re-instated, if it suceeds in doing this it won't be setting a precedence as EA patched Fifa 2004 for LAN/Direct IP play after complaints/petitions from their users.

You missed the point I was trying to get across.

This game is more or less a direct port, we can't expect to be treated any better than the PS2 and Xbox owners. We are lucky they even port it over to the PC. :)

PaulGene is right, you all others are wrong, my opinion. Having PES5 authenticate ur license and THEN enable LAN option simply makes common sense. Arguing that we should be happy it's available for PC at all is just silly. Since it is, and HAS, been, why accept a lowering of standard?

It's this simple to me: sign the petition if you would benefit from LAN play, sign it if you symphatize with the people who would, or just leave it be if you simply don't care or understand. PZ!

I am quoting you as I feel you were talking to me. I will explain in depth why this wouldnt work.

Only after Authentication.
A) Does this only happen once?
B) Does it need to be authenticated for evey use of LAN?

Problems
A) If this is only done once, what stops me from taking my legal copy to a friends and authenticating it also and now we can play Direct IP. The only way to stop this would be to only allow it to authenticate on one computer, but this introduces a new problem. What if I build a new computer? What stops a piracy group from releasing a patch that fake authenticates to allow lan/direct ip?
B) If your internet is very slow, are you going to want to go through this every session, just to play a lan game? What if there is no internet connection? What if people want to play lan because they dont have the internet?

You haven't explained why this 'wouldn't work' - you've simply explained how it isn't an 'ideal' solution.... but it's still far more 'ideal' than just removing LAN completely! It's purely a way of letting Konami know that they have (at the time of writing) 1657 genuine PC users that want the LAN/direct-IP back who don't mind having their game authenticated before being allowed to continue.

Hopefully, Konami have the brains to work out the best way (logistically) of putting LAN/Direct IP back in the game whilst protecting their game against copyright theft. This whole removal thing just feels like a ill-thought out knee-jerk reaction to copyright theft.
