Interesting thread tittle for an uninteresting thread, There are as many different play styles and tastes that you are going to get a whole array of different opinions. I prefer Fifa 2005 gameplay over Fifa06 and some people want Fifa to be even more to try to become a PES clone, it's like asking do you still like eating apples or do you prefer oranges?
from what ive read know, most people say it sucks and its predictable....so we get some interesting conclusions from this thread.

I think Fifa06 is definitely an improvement over 2005. The gap in midfield is gone and the gameplay is a little better. I like career mode in FIFA because you can take a little division three club to glory and do it with real players not fictional ones as in the master league with PES. I do agree however that the CPU tends to play the same way all the time although I have noticed that certain clubs have slightly different styles. Another annoying thing about the game is the way the CPU spends considerable time using skill moves and change of direction without really accomplishing anything (I like to refer to it as herky-jerky sh*t). I haven't played PES5 but I still enjoy WE8I. I'd say it's considerably more challenging and can be more rewarding at times than FIFA06.

To Jomi: How do I make the modifications you mentioned for increased CPU subs and changed AI?

I have it on PS2. I have been able to mod my PS2 version with the found hidden kits, changed AI, and Subs enabled.

I quit playing it for a few weeks after the intial non-stop playing since the release.

I started up again this past weekend and the game is fun. It can be frustrating and it can be great. Overall though it's just fun. It's better than 2005 and all the ones before it ON THE PS2.

I will say that if I was playing the regular PS2 game with no Subs and default AI I would have given up on the game completely long ago.

I also have it on PS2..

how do you change THE AI ??

When you are referring to the subs, do you mean the number of players you are allowed on the bench ??

First you make a back up of your config file which is in the root directory.
Then you extract the folders ai and common with BigGUI or file master

I have modified these lines in the ai.ini
REFEREE_STRICTNESS = 2
CROSS_ASSISTANCE = 0
CROSS_ASSISTANCE_WIDTH = 0
INJURY_PERCENTAGE = 25
INJURY_CHANCE_OF_WINDING = 60

and these in the common.ini
CAMERA_ZOOM_MODIFIER = 1.8
CAMERA_HEIGHT_MODIFIER = 0.35

I allow 7 subs for the bench, generally 1 CB, 1 RB or LB, 3 midfielders , and 2 strikers, so when the CPU makes a sub when a player is injured, it makes the right choice.
I don't play the manager ( career mode ) so maybe these values are too high when you play a whole season ( too many injured players )
The modified zoom in the common folder, allows a larger view of the pitch,when set to a low value in the options menu

One more thing , I forgot to mention.
I have added this line in the ai ini too ( there is a thread in the forum about it )
RENDER_RATE_MODE = 2
It makes the game run a lot smoother ( I play with low speed )
you write that at the bottom of the ai. Don't forget to insert an empty line It should look like this

PRETTY_PASS_MAX_Y_VELOCITY = 3.6
PRETTY_PASS_INC_Y_VELOCITY = 0.03

RENDER_RATE_MODE = 2

When you're done with that, you just import ai and common with bigGUI or file master

Well i think that the FIFA 06 is not so great as it was ecpected but it's bad either, i enjoy it because i try new things every match i play, try dif. players, dif. attacks, dif. defensive options, all dif. every match, so in my case i get dif. goals from dif. players and more. I've PES5 i don't like it because it too easy for me, the graphics are not so good and the game options are not so good as FIFA. Does anybody sees that PES series has more "making options" than FIFA because it doesn't have so many game options or so many leagues as the FIFA series. :nape:

FIFA is not the best, but don't to me and say that it's bad.

I play at the pro level, and its gets rather boring when 99.99999% of the computer goals are headers from crosses out wide :rolleyes:
