Its not his sense of humor that bothers me, its the double standard. The right wing has so fully mind f*cked the media, and they are so good at what they do (partly because they are good at convincing themselves that they are not at all contradicting themselves and are stoically correct with everything they say) that if someone like Al Franken made a similar comment about, say, South Carolina, he would be accosted right (maybe not so much left) and center, eventhough he is a much funnier guy and says far more things in pure jest. But somehow, because its a nutty right wing mouthpiece, the only people who really get aggitated are people like media matters and the most liberal of Americans.
I have no problem with him saying something like that, eventhough I think he is a retarded pervert. My problem just comes with how, if roles were reversed, the rightwing media machine would sputter to life and quickly set about destroying the credibility of the speaker with whatever exaggurations and half-truths they saw fit to distort.
Im not trying to start a political debate. I just wanted to get that out there.
