Oscars 2004 - The 76th Annual Academy Awards

INFESTA

Official
I'm glad they got all those Oscars. It may or may not be the best movie ever, but definitely it is the greatest cinematographic achievement of all time, and only for that it already deserved all the Oscars it could get!

I rate a movie like I rate any other piece of art out there: those who leave a greater mark on me, those who can effectively transmit a message, those who change my life are certainly the best ones. And LOTR did that.

It wasn't love at first sight. In fact, I was a hater like some of you are now. I skipped the first 2 movies and only watched the first episode's DVD like 6 months ago. I only watched an hour before falling asleep. But something told me to give it another try, and it somehow clicked. I watched the second episode 2 weeks later and went to the movies to see the Grande Final.
I still think about the movie every week... Can't wait for the DVD to come out! :)
[Also, check my sig below.]

About these year's nominees, City Of God is also one of the best movies I've ever seen, and it's a shame you guys can't speake portuguese, bcs you'll probably miss half of the fun. Still, it's definitely more original than anything Hollywood put out in the past couple of years. [PEGA A GALINHA, CARALHO! (H)]
Rent it! :)

I agree with that. I have almost the same rating system.
I admit that Mystic River is an awesome preformance driven movie. but after seing it I didnt feel anything. it didnt affect me at all. I fact, I can name another movie of child abuse and the story about adults, "Sleepers" with brad pitt, robert deniro, and lots of actors and that movie is great and it had more effect in me than mystic river.

also Lost in Translation is great, but I have to say that Sofia Coppola's first movie, The Virgin Suicides is a much better movie, and smaller too. you guys should see it.

City of God I havent seen but I have it on dvd and I'll see it soon. Ive read that its really powerfull when talking about children violence and those movies tend to be great.

Watching Lord of the Rings in the movies was one of my best experiences ever (only losing to the Silverchair on 15 may 2003, i still have the ticket, and probably going to lose when i have sex for the first time:crazyboy: ). Well deserved, there is no such better epic movie, fiction movie, whatever.

They've put a lot of effort on to it, and you like it or not, they won it all. It must be a record, i dont think any movie that won the best movie award, still won 100% of the Oscars they were nominated for, which such a high number of awards won, i mean, getting 11 nominations and winning all of the 11, it's just too classy.:mrpimp:

only 2 movies besides LotR have won all the oscars they were nominated for. and both those movies had and won 9. LotR:RotK had and won 11.

I cant remember the movies, I think Lawrence of Arabia was one of them but Im not sure.

I agree, i have seen the movie twice and loved it both times. It might seem boring for people that have not read a book, but if you read a book, you will truly appreciate all the hardwork Peter has put into that movie. Besides it was the most awaited movie of 2003, beating Matrix and i believed they made the biggest income in 2003. It was somewhere around 2.5 billion. I think only Star Wars Trilogies made more and Gone with the wind. And it's still going.

nah, RotK is second in alltime behind Titanic which made 1.8 billions.

RotK just passed the 1 billion mark a few weeks ago.

Same here. I feel sad now, that it's over. It was a great adventure movie. What interesting adventures are there now? Star Wars Episode 3? Coming outin 1 year. Pirates of the Carribean 2? COming out in 1 year and a half. Spiderman is not an adventure anyways. So all i have left is wait till June for Harry Potter 3:kader: .

Carlos Sparrow is gay. :crazyboy:
He is not gay, he is ******* hilarious.
Without him, the movie probably would have been average. Johnny Depp, worked hard for sure.
