Oscars 2005 - The 77th Annual Academy Awards

SlayerDeuS

Starting XI
Rock was funny but when he's uncensored he will never be at his best and never will any comedian especially in the days of this FCC BULL****. I loved the part where he was interviewing all the black people and how their taste in movies is so completely different than white people. LOL White CHICKS!

About him insulting people :s, gawd why can't you take a little bit of dark humour?

Im just saying that its not suited for this type of ceremony.
my main problem that I found myself laughing at other people, and not at the stuff he did.

and yes, the first joke about Jude Law being in every other movie was a good joke. cause its true. but then he went on to say that 'if you want russell and you can only get jude law, you should wait' then I didnt like it.

and the thing at the magic johnson theatre was funny, but racist, and again, it didnt have anything to do with the oscars.
I think it would have been funnier if he were talking to people (who actually had seen the movies) about the oscar nominees and the cut to ask them what they thought about White Chicks.

It's quite clear that the Oscars are trying to spice it up a bit heavily influenced by the MTV Movie Awards and they haven't got it quite right. It's still a bit dull and boring.

They should get someone like Robin Williams hosting a show.

I still think that Conan O'Brien hosting the Emmy's a few years ago was the funniest hosting job that I have ever seen. He should host the Oscars next year or in the near future.

Yes, the MTV Movie awards will and always will be the best awards out there. I dont really take the oscars too seriously, they only opt for 'artsy' 'meaningful' movies. In 25 years, what will people remember more, M$B or Dodgeball? (hint: probably Dodgeball)

If a movie like Old School or 'There's Something about Mary' arent recognized, why bother?

About the actual ceremony...

Man, that was boring. Chris Rock was very funny, and Sean Penn came off a cock gobbler who cant take a joke. The acceptence speeches were very boring, and overall, when Rock wasnt on screen it was just bland. What was with the 'lesser' awards being handed out on the eisles, or having the nominees line up on the stage. How degrading was that? How about next year they hand out those awards outside. (admittingly those were the worst speeches of the night).

Why did Marlon Brando not have his own tribute!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

highlights/memorable moments of the night:

- Whenever Rock was on screen
- I thought Robin Williams had a (rare) poor showing. He was much funnier at the golden globes.
- Adam Sandler and Chris Rock skit
- Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz. Chris Rock was spot on with his '4 presenters' joke, and after hearing their dreadful english, it made perfect sense. Hayek is no doubt probably the hottest actress out there, but if you close your eyes and listen to her and Cruz speak its torture.
- Camera panning to Jay-Z about 500 times. The oscars are supposed to have class, is 50 Cent gonna be invited next year and Lil Jon singing a song? Why was P Diddy presenting and yet no appearence by Will Ferrell or Carlos Black?
- that busty knockout in the balcony of that director
- why did Beyonce sing every song?
- how funny would it have been if they panned to Jude Law when Rock was making fun of him. He'd have a fake smile on his, itd be grand
- Renee Zellwegger looking AWFUL. she looked so ugly it was actually bothering me. I point this out because she can actually look hot (like she did in Jerry Macguire). And was it just my TV, or did her and Drew Barrymore look as they were covered in baby powder?
- Sean Penn making a complete ass out of himself. I hate this guy now. Team America is even funnier now
- the acceptence speeces of Kaufman and the spanish guy for that song

and finally...

- when mayhem ensued after Scorsese had to be restrained by security when he attacked Clint Eastwood after not winning best director, and than Robert De Niro hit Eastwood from behind with a steel chair and than him and scorsese fled the building

he's not spanish (N) :(

and I have no other comments on your comments.
people like what they like but to actually want a broad comedy at the Oscar's is crazy. Films are art, and thats what the academy awards.

Im sorry to ruin the suspense of next years oscars, but This Movie will win everything.

Based on the people involved and the overall feel of this trailor, its gonna be tough to beat.

The only real competition i see comes from This Movie, which im counting the days until its release.

I'd have to agree with Cindarella Man but Wedding Crashers? It stars Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson...potentially very funny but not Oscar material.
