PAOK penalised for suspended player

the thing that sucks is the team didn't know this. I mean come on the guy got a red card in the first 5 minutes of that game 4 years ago.

this is just dumb. imo the should take PAOK's goal away but not award it to Macabi.......on aggregate thats 4.5 goals...PAOK must perform a miracle

Yeah, a fine would have been more appropriate for this kind of situation. This tribulation should act as motivation for PAOK in the next leg, though.

Man, if all they did was fine them Macabi would have raised such a stink. I think UEFA was on some level saving themselves a lot of grief here.

that makes more sense. But this had happened to the opposing team aswell awhile ago, so for now it's fair.

But in the future the best thing to do is prevent the player from playingthe next match. Because UEFA is at fault at this aswell. that is unless if there actually was a list of players who were ineligible to play that Paok didn't check.

How is it UEFA's fault? They aren't responsible for getting the list of suspended players to the teams, it'd take WAY too much time.

PAOK communications director Dimitris Giannopoulos resigned after admitting to local media that no one had checked a list of suspended players sent to the club ahead of the first leg.

cases like this, Uefa can often contradict themselves. Russia played with a player that tested possitive for drugs, against wales in a playoff for euro 2004. Only the player was punished. Bad example, if UEFA wanna be gay with all these technical rules, they shouldve made an example out of Russia/Titov and banned them from Euro 2004.

i don't agree. in a doping case the club/NT can't be punished by an error of 1 player. this case is a club error so the club must be punished.

I agree....but not by 4.5 goals on aggregate...take away PAOK's goal....3 goals for Macabi on aggregate. that is fair.

ya, i see your point. Buts wats more serious, someone taking drugs, or a mistake with paper work?

i cant even imagine wat wouldve happend, had this occured with a big club.

it's the drugs off course. so the player must be heavily punished, not the team.

i think it is on POAK because UEFA isnt going to go around and tell every club about that stuff... they have other things to take care of.... the club should have received records of all those things.... so what it was four years ago.... it doesnt matter even if it was 10 years ago.... they should know things like that.... but i agree in some aspect that 3-0 is a bit harsh.... 2-0 would have been enough

its the rules and is the clubs responsability to keep track of all those stats.. UEFA just applied the rules.. frankly in a big club this wouldnt happen because they keep track of this.

In my opinion, its the club's fault. Selecting a team involves checking the list of suspended players. It's their mistake and I fully agree with UEFA.
