Patrick Vieira To Juve

Red Card [Being a douche] exp. 22/1/06
Viera brings consistency in the middle, but also someone who has never won the CL. He has that arsenal type of curse that tells him everynight in the sleep THE CL IS NOT YOUR TROPHY. :D
Good luck to him though and to Arsenal to they will really need it.

Wenger knew when to get rid of Petit, Overmars and Anelka and probably knows what he is doing and I wouldn't be surprised if he already has someone lined up. There is no way that Cesc Fabregas can be a direct replacement unless he has a huge growth spurt, because Vieira had aerial height, and you need that in a role like his. Flamini? I've not seen enough of him.

I don't like the bald prick, but I would have him on my team right now.

Vieira picked Juve over Real
Friday 15 July, 2005
Patrick Vieira has spoken for the first time as a Juventus player after the Italian club beat Real Madrid for his signature.

The French international joined the Bianconeri last night in a £13.7m move from Arsenal and is delighted with his choice of destination.

"I'm really proud and happy today, because it's a really special day," he said at the club’s headquarters in Corso Galileo Ferraris.

"For me, in the last few years, Juventus has always been at the top, not only in European football but also national as well.

"So for me to join Juventus is a fantastic achievement in my career. I'm really proud and really happy.

"It's going to be a really big challenge but I'm going to be ready for that.

"Juventus has been a really stable club in the past few years and when I look at myself as a human being and as a player, and I look at Juventus, it's the perfect club for me.

"I took this decision without being influenced by either (Juventus defender Lilian) Thuram or (Real Madrid’s Zinedine) Zidane. This is my decision because it is my life."

Juventus were first linked to Vieira a few weeks ago and the club admit it was tough landing the 29-year-old.

"The player is not aware of what a battle we had with Real for him," stated director general Luciano Moggi.

"But we insisted and in the end Vieira chose us. I can assure everyone though that Arsenal didn’t sell him voluntarily because he is a champion.

"We’ve dug deep to get him but that is only because we are certain that Vieira will know how to pay us back."

The former Highbury captain added that it was a tough decision to turn his back on his wonderful years in London.

"When you spend nine years somewhere it's always going to be difficult, but when you make a decision you think about what you want to achieve," he added.

"It was quite difficult, but that's life. I achieved a lot with Arsenal, in the nine years I spent there we won a lot of trophies.

"What I want is just to keep going and keep winning trophies for my new team. I’ve not come here to just win the Champions’ League but for everything."

The combative midfielder will now link up again with his former Milan boss Fabio Capello, who once likened him to Frank Rijkaard.

"I was just 19 back then," explained Vieira. "Rijkaard is one of my idols and I’m delighted with the compliment. Capello was a great motivator and he still is now."

The player was also questioned about the possibility that he could be targeted by racist chants in Italy.

"I did evaluate that aspect when I signed but I will deal with that if it ever arises," he concluded.

Meanwhile, Moggi seemed to put away the club’s chequebook following this latest capture.

"We will now look to sell," he stated. "There is an agreement with Sevilla for Enzo Maresca even if he needs to give his OK. We will then place Stephen Appiah and Fabrizio Miccoli."

Florentino was offered Vieira by Arsenal last week and he promptly said no.

Yes, one week Marca talked about it. I though it was the typical crap, but now it looks like it was true :-)

Arsenal wanted to sell Vieira, but Real Madrid already signed 2 players in that position, apart Arsenal "played" with Real Madrid one year ago so Madrid didnt wanted to know anything with Vieira/Arsenal.

Maybe Vieira prefered Juve over Madrid, but the fact is actually Madrid was not interesed in Vieira so we dont care what team prefer Vieira, now Vieira can say all that crap of "i dream with playing in Delle Alpi since i was 6 years old" But the fact is that Madrid dont want/need Vieira, if you look at Arsenal thread one week ago you can see Madrid fans reported it.

Haha :D

That was funny :D:D

Anyways, who you reckon is gonna replace him at Arse?

The strongest candidate seems to be Mohamed (sp?) Diarra of Lyon. Wenger knows what he's doing. One of the best 'scouts' in football.

The problem is we need a new captain. I think it should be 1) Bergkamp, 2) Lauren, 3) Henry. Not Campbell because he can't lead worth a damn, fine player, crap leader.
I dont know the first thing about the Arse, but wouldn't it just make more sense to give the captaincy to a guy like Henry who will probably be with the club for another 7+ years (barring a transfer) over Bergkamp who, while he has absolutely earned it, is on the verge of retirement? Or do you mean it to be just sort of a honorable sendoff type thing?

Dennis won't be playing many games for us next season. He'll probably be captain whenever he plays, though.

I wouldnt be surprised if they gave it to Bergkamp, I would, hes 36? and still plays better than most on the asre.

In a way, yea. Although I think Bergkamp gets more respect that Henry, as he even has Henry's full respect. That's the most important thing about a captain to me.

Henry (along with Jens and Lauren) would be great captains, but Bergkamp just seems to be the best fit to me.

Gosh these Madridistas are so sore...dam just **** off and stop being jelaous..If the guy prefers Juve over Madrid, thats his problem and you dont need to be putting him down b/c of that..we now know he dreamed of playing with Juve but we're also sure about him not liking Madrid because he rejected your ass.. Point taken. I guess as the consumate veteran on that team, everyone must already look up to him. Plus, if its like Enigma says, and say Henry gets it while Bergkamp is on the bench, it could help to ween Henry into the on the field leadership role.
