Penalties....

Is it just me, or is saving a penalty in this game a matter of pure luck? OK so most of the time when goalkeepers save penalties they just got lucky, but there just doesn't seem to be any skill involved in saving penalties in WE7:I

Yup, penalties suck. I personally hate taking a penalty shot more than saving one. It seems you don't have any control over it. Sometimes it goes exactly where you want and sometimes 5 meters wide (or high). That's why I usually aim to the middle of the goal. (But a cheap player is still able to send the ball to row z even then.)

I hear about 98% of people saying thay hate penalties in WE7. But really how can they make it any better. The only thing I can think of is a power shot. But even than it will probably be even harder. My opinion is that in 'Real Life' nerves and mentality really play a big part in penalties. I also think it is all about "Luck"

i think it should depend about 80% on luck and 20%on player skill

so an amazing goalkeeper saves more then a crappy one and vice-verse with kicking

Well isnt it allready like that??? For example sumtimes I shoot a pk with Henry. The goalie guesses the right way BUT this is Henry we are talking about so obviously my shot has an 80% chance of going in. I dont know I think some people dont like it cause they hate loosing pk's. That would be boring if you knew you were gonna win every single time.

Well I do believe there is some skill involved in PK saving.... I believe it is possible for the goalkeeper to generally which direction the ball is going by looking at where the balance foot of the player is pointed at. I've noticed that it is kinda true that when I try to shoot the ball left in real life, (my preferred foot is right) I do tend to point my left foot to the left to kinda help my body turn and add more power to the shot. Given that you would need unbelievably quick reflexes to do that, I'd say its still remotely possible. It would help if we could actually see the penalty player from the goal-keeper's point of view when he shoots the ball, because right now its down to pure luck.

i have the feeling the penalty system in PES is terribly scripted and the chance of hitting or missing is somehow dependent on the overall game situation. especially when you got shootouts.

i don't know how many penalty shootouts i had in which it seemed the CPU made me miss the goal or hit the post in the deciding phase, just to keep the score tight and exciting. it's almost predictable...

i am sure some people will disagree and claim that this is all under your control and that i am just too stupid, but that's why i said, this is just a feeling i have.

it would also be cool to have an alternative to the lame front on perspective. Maybe a standard sideways camera view or one from behind the goal.

anway, i think this is probably the weakest and least enjoyable part of the game (not that it is any better in FIFA BTW)

I feel the same way as you. For PES 4, konami has a lot of work on the penalty system.

the worst thing is when u hit the post or shoot it wide......i mean u don't have any control of the shot but it all depends on the random generated script which will decide whether u miss or not....:kader:

watever it is..... i can say penalties in PES3/WE7 kinda suck...

it will be cool if theres a power bar.. so that there will be a possible way to do that audacious henry/totti penalty chip.

i remember how i had so much fun taking penalty shootouts at Virtua Striker 2002 at the arcade.. it was damn fun....

hopefullly the next instalment of PES/WE will fix this...

but watever it is.... its not really a big of a deal cos the gameplay of the overall game is just superb!!! wohooOOooo

ive noticed that on the PS2 version of PES3, if for some obscure reason you are playing it on under 3stars or on 3 stars, they tend to just hit it straight down the centre :kader:

but on 4 or 5 they obviously dont

TROD.
