PES 2 Strategy Icons at lower corners of the screen?

I understand how to select my 4 preset strategies via the L2 + button combination. What I don't understand is what happens when 2, 3, or all 4 icons are present at the lower corners of the screen?

What is the purpose of having more than one icon on there at a time, and is the order important? Does the computer choose between the icons listed as to what strategy to employ? I'm playing via the PSX emulator, so I don't have a manual to explain these.

Thanks for any tips!

Fair question....no booklet sucks! I STEAL EM FROM THE BOXES AT BLOCKBUSTER IF/RARELY I rent something from those corporate bastar*s....sorry, when all those are persent its currently running them...such as if left and right attack are both up I THINK it spreads them out equally...the x-factor in this situation is your central mid-feilder.....he'll pull to the side the balls on....if your counter attack is also up, I beleive the forwards are simply in thier forwardmost position....and if your zone pressin' too....well, I think your zone pressin too...Post again if you have a mystery-button question...I hate bein' there:D

Thanks for the info Rasta, that makes more sense!

Another question (I'm playing the PSX version via an emulator, FYI): According to control listing at http://www.evo-web.co.uk/game.proevolutionsoccer2.controls.shtml,

L1 + DIRECTION = 1/4 paced slow jog
DIRECTION = 1/2 paced dash
R2 + DIRECTION = 3/4 paced dash
R1 + DIRECTION = Full paced dash

From what I can tell, I'm only getting two different speeds; the 1/2 paced (just the directional pad, no buttons) and the full paced via R1. L1 (1/4) doesn't seem any slower than just pressing the D-pad, nor does R2 (3/4) seem any faster. Did they leave this out of the PSX version, or are my eyes deceiving me?

Thanks!

Can no one give me an answer here? Do you guys playing on the PS2 ever use the 1/4 or 3/4 paced dashes? They don't appear to be included in the PSX version, but if nobody uses them I guess it doesn't matter.

Personally, I'd like to be able to do the 1/4 pace, as there are times when the 1/2 pace (D-pad, no buttons) takes off a little too fast when I'm trying to control the ball in tight spaces.

What about you?
