PES 3 - Football Strategy

Senior Squad
There are plenty of threads talking bout how to run the demo...bout time we started talking bout the football that's happening after people manage to get it going :)
Think this will be especially good for the PES noobs to get an idea of how you can use the formation screen to use real world football tactics.

I'll kick it off
Been playin mostly with England so far and have found:-

- Changing Beckham and Dyer to Left and right midfielders opens up the width of the field. They also get in behind the defence alot more, with Dyer especially making some nice diagonal runs. (you can change positions though formation->set formation->select position)

- Changing Scholes to an OMF makes a big difference. When Owen gets the ball out wide hold it up for a second and Scholes will make his trademark darting runs to the edge of the box, using the space left by owen's wide run.

- Under the quick settings menu(great new addition to PES3 and WE7) I'm using balanced and switching to Counter-attack when getting battered, you'll see a marked difference in player movement whatever you chose in this section.

- For subs : Rooney's stats aren't brilliant but his teamwork rating is excellent, in the 90's with most attacking players so will link up well with Beckham, Scholes and Owen...which works especially well when the opposition defenders are starting to tire.
(you can check this by pressing the long ball button when making subs- press once it will change the formation diag to numbers, press again will show the numbers and coloured lines...teamwork is very important in PES)

Anyone with any tips on how to use Italy, Germany, Spain and England, give us your thoughts be it PC, PS2 or WE7. :)

Dont play with Spain, easy as that. Is the Weakest team of the demo so far.

Konami guys just have showed dont know the spanish players/spanish league.

1. Albelda, Marchena and Baraja: That guys + Ayala makes of Valencia the stronger defense/midfield in La Liga so far, and top 3 in Europe for sure. Here that 3 players are a Joke :D

2. Raul isnt that good rated as other stars, really a shame cause he is the best player of Spain, and after all he is the biggest scorer in Champions League with 25 years old (without thowing penalties) and dont playing as a "9" as Ronaldo or RVN in example.

3. Michel Salgado is one of the best of the world in his position. Zidane just said yesterday Michel Salgado is the best of the world in his position. In this game he is just a random player...

4. Puyol in the bench? LOL

5. Luis Garcia in Spain? a player that never have played in Spain NT is in the game. Good Job Konami, maybe in the future will happen, but not until today...

6. Joaquin stats, another joke. The best dribling in the spanish league with Reyes, Denilson and Figo. Be sure Figo and Denilson will have 99 in dribbling/skill but Joaquin and Reyes no way ! they are spanish ;)

7. Fernando Torres and Reyes arent in Spain NT. Konami cant do nothing in this point cause they are 18 and 20 years old, and new to the NT team, editing time :)

I dont mean Spain must be the top 1 in PES3, but at least close to the other top teams, i feel shame playing with Spain NT in PES3. ¬_¬

For Italy, I find it best to have Totti playing OMF instead and have either Inzaghi or Del Piero playing up front.

Pirlo have better offensive stats than Zanetti, so might want to pair him with Tomassi.

Zanetti, Tomassi, Di Biagio all play too much alike, so don't have both of them if possible. Fully use the bench, guys like Delvecchio & Doni gives a varied attacking options.

Since no Maldini, whom i love to have in my back 4, I find myself switching to 3 defender for that extra attacker in the form of Inzaghi or Del Piero in the midfield.

though Joaquin stats are not so good,he performs brilliantly in the game.in we7 his stats are better and he has a 94 dribbling.
Figo gets 96 and Denilson 97.
i havent figured out how to use Inzaghi ,though his stats seem good enough.i think it is better to use Vieri

I can't score **** when i use 4-4-2 formation. Have to change it to 4-3-3 before i can start scoring.

Please explain how you would play both Salgado and Puyol.

Obviously one has to play and the other has to stay on the bench.

Unless of course you'd like to play with two right backs.

In Spain NT, Puyol always have played as LB or Defender (Dunno the name position, just like Stam or Chivu in example), except in the World Cup.

anyway you had a good eye ;)

how can Denilson have such good stats on the PES series, he does fancy dribbles but does he actually dribble the opponent  while other players like Reyes and Joaquin are true dribbling machine, and does anyone know what are Konamis criteria for the selection of the Spanish clubs?

Yeah I agree, the Spain stats are not that accurate.

Xabi Alonso's stats are disappointing too, he's the best controlling midfielder in La Liga IMHO.

Crusad3r meant Puyol usually plays as a Centre Back in the Spain squad, teaming up with Helguera. Another option is to put Puyol as a LB and Salgado as a RB.
