PES 3 PC - SHOOTING + ThrustMaster FireStorm Dual Power

Well, I'm playing Pro Evolution Soccer 3 (full PC game) with a ThrustMaster FireStorm Dual Power gamepad, and I'm having some problems with the shooting system.
It seems that if I am not holding down the R1 (sprint) button the shots are just lobs.
The only way I can get a normal shot is by running fast (holding the R1 button) and shooting at the same time.

For example, I pass the ball to Zidane near the box, and I want to shot, so I don't hold the R1 button (because otherwise he'd run and the play would get ruined) but when I press the square button (shot button) the player lobs the ball instead of shooting it hard.
Oh, and before you ask, I am pressing the shot button JUST ONCE (not repeatedly).
Does this happen to you too? could ya help me?

See ya!

I think its just the name of the game. If you look in real life its the same. When you dribble slow its hard to peform a hard shot. To shoot hard you have to make a short run, like a take off run. Some good player can shoot hard while standing still like Rivaldo.

Yeah, but the fact is that in real life you can run slow and then shoot hard without lobbing the ball, you know what I mean...
I think this is a bug of the game, it didn't happen in the Playstation 1 version of WE.

weird i never get lobs unless i press L1+square.
What do you mean? A real lob or the ball goes high over the goal? If its the second you should balance the player before shooting and face in the direction you wanna shoot and don't use too much power
;)

Fede, does it lob when you press the shoot button twice?
Also, I know this sounds standard but did you try reinstalling the gamepad and checked the button configuration?

no man
he doesnt mean like tries lobbing the keeper, his shots are just slow and high over the net
happens to me too
like the other guy said, its the name of the game
at times your player will shoot it hard without sprinting it all depends on the situation and the player

Oh yeh expect to his some pretty crap shots in PES, very life like. I once hit the corner flag with a volley from 20 yards out so you can really mess up the shots nicely. I have also hit some kinda high dropping lob shot that smacked onto (not against, onto) the bar, weird yet very real.

Happens to me too, would be great if we could adjust the power-up time, like in fifa, I can't get used to it powering up so fast

yes i agree, the powerup time is WAY too freakin' fast. I've had world class strikers miss way high from like 10 feet away. It's not very realistic if you ask me. I know you are supposed to just tap the shoot button but it's hard to tap it quickly all the time and doesn't make much sense.

It makes perfect sense when you think that it allows for quick hard shooting. Which is very handy in certain situations. When you're clean through and one on one with the keeper for example, you can delay shooting and try and force the goalie to make the first move, which wouldn't be possible if the power up was slow, because you'd have to start the power up long before you get anywhere near the goalie. There's countless other situations where quick shooting comes in handy as well.

this happens to me with the keyboard and with dual action too...

you have to dominate the shooting system...

now rarely happens to me...

i dont know but i think its because the pressure of the opponent and the position with the ball

ok but i don't like seeing raul fly it over the net from 10 ft away.

or the fact that when they foul me in the box it's never called. :)

OK, I think I know what's your problem but don't shoot me if I'm wrong. It happened to me too sometimes, but it has nothing to do with the gamepad. It's a special combination of buttons to perform a lob.

When you start shooting without R1 pressed and then, while your shot is loading up, press R1, you perform a lob instead of a shot. It's just a reflex: you start shooting, you don't think you'll get there in time and you press R1 to speed up, but that's the problem. If you press R1 when your player is loading up his shot, you'll perform a stupid, little lob.

I'm still having this problem sometimes. It's one of those reflexes from playing Fifa all the time I guess.

I hope this solves your problem. Just leave the R1 button alone when you shoot or keep it pressed all the time.

There are 2 kinds of lobs:

- hold L1 and shoot => high lob
- press R1 while the powerup meter shows => low lob

If you don't believe me, check your manual ;)
