more call names and more tricks, you should be able to create and put players straight into the team, transfers should be easier

I understand where you're coming from man, and maybe such a feature would be ok if implemented properly, but I still feel it goes completely against the fundamental code for football and football games, that is, you control the ball handler. Smarter runs are the answer, if my winger just stays there I move back a couple of feet and he starts his run...I feel it's more fun this way, giving it to the streaking guy whichever side he's on. Not manually manipulationg teammates to make the runs you want...

IMO. :)

i understand and valid your point, CRO... i too think, that smarter runs would be the solution, but i personally have been waiting for the obvious -- a winger offering himself by running down a wide open space down the line -- for about 5 years now. it won't happen anytime soon. you know Konami. rather than trying out something new they finetune what they have... that's good, yes, but sometimes one wishes a bit more innovation (referees anyone? freekicks?)

apologies ahead, that i will take FIFA as an example.. not 2004 and it's silly OTB BS... but 2003... in all the mess that game was, there was IMO one really neat feature and that was sending a forward into space by pressing the appropriate L-Button... there was no control over his path like in this year's version.. it was just a command: go, make a run... it didn't always work (ball was intercepted, or you decided to play to another player, while the player making the run would pull away a defender, thus turning this whole thing into a tactical weapon as well), but when it worked, it felt just right and very satisfying (about the only thing that felt right in that game).. it had very little to do with "braking a code" or "telepathy"... it was just a possible play which you see all the time in real football...again, when you have a good team, they will play that way, neither because it's magic, nor telepathy but because they have trained that a thousand times

and if you were honest: if FIFA had you to run backwards in order to make your stupid teammate run forward, you'd be probably all over how stupid it was... or not?

well, hack, seems that *i* am getting worked up about it now....

1. Real money, no PES points
2. Real Leagues and competitions
3.More club teams.

They already have great gameplay.

the free-kick system has stagnated for the past few years, penalties likewise

there's huge scope for making them interesting and exciting but KCET have been stubbornly content to leave their uninspired dead-ball systems virtually untouched

it's almost beyond belief that we still cannot, at the very least, play the ball 360 degrees from a free-kick

I think the freekicks are the most intuitive and genius recreation of the real thing in a football game. They can tweak them, but the power combined with up/down and swerve, depending on player ratings and position is excellent. The % of goals scored and on target kicks from experienced players is almost perfect. I hope none of this changes drastically, and knowing how much Konami cares for realism, I don't think it will change. If it ain't broke, don't fix it ;)

360 from a freekick would be nice, but animating the player may be unrealistic, because real players know they'll play it back so they don't stand with their backs to their goal prior to taking it....how's the game supposed to know where you'll pass it? It'll end up facing you forward, when you pass back it'll look silly, like a bakcwards penalty, ackward and unrealistic.

the direct shooting system in free-kicks is fairly good, but that's the problem....what else can you do? where's the short layoff to the side, the step over dummy, even a regular ground pass is often out of the question as your guys all go hide behind defenders and make no effort to escape from markers, just standing there like stuffed chimps....it also seems to forget that the 10 yard rule doesn't apply to your own players

don't see a problem with 360 degree passes, if you suddenly decide to pass back, the animation simply needs to have your guy turn and pass as he would in real life

penalties? having played some great penallty systems in other games (Dino Dini's Goal being my fav), PES penalties are a big let down......low down the middle = 100% success against CPU, to the side or high = random misses

oooohhh...sorry culo, I misunderstood you man. I thought you meant shooting... I agree with you fully, if you want to make a short lay off or even a driven cross it's very difficult, even short passes are a nightmare from freekicks. But I really don't see an easy fix for this, because the camera for freekicks really assumes you will shoot (90% of the time people do) so it narrows your angle in such a way that the goal becomes your primary objective, and everything else is off view. This will be difficult, but if KCET does it properly, it will be yet another astonishing feature we will be amazed at.

And I too agree that the penalty system needs to be re-worked somewhat. I have no idea how, but I'd say that in order to take a good penalty near to the post, you have to risk it (power bar for instance, even for placement maybe?)....you may miss, but if you take it too softly it can be stopped easier. this will put skills to the test and you have to practise to get good. There's a catch though, the power bar cannot be visible (this is why Konami hasn't had it in penalties thus far) because then it gives the strength of the penalty away to your opponent when playing against another human. I'd love to see them pull it off, and they can I'm sure.

It must be intuitive and give you the sensation of pressure and skill when taking a spotkick....sure Konami have pondered ways to pull it off and still stay true to the simple genius of WE.

i think what Konami should do is take a look at wts/tif series....what i mean by that is that WTS/TIF only have the Fifpro license like Konami but they put in a bunch of leagues plus a whole lot of National Teams, and also they have all the league cups plus the qualification for Champions League,UEFA Cup and even Inter-Toto... they also have the "Copa Libertadores",Asian Club Cup(consisting of teams from Asia,Africa and Ocenia) plus they have a whole lot of teams from "rest of the world" section(and not just eurpean teams) plus they have the world club cup.Intercontinental cup,World Cup and all the different Nation Cups...... now just Imagin if Konami did this man what a game that would be..it'd be cool if both companies teamed up then that would be the end of EA!!!!!!

exactly - the penalty shoot-outs should engender the excitement of a real life penalty competition such that you would want to play shoot-outs just for the fun of it

the current system has the complete opposite efect on me - if a cup match ends in a draw AET, i just switch it off

i would almost advocate having new button controls especially for a penalty in order to give it far more variety and flexibility and introduce a greater skill element...i want to have the options from blasting it hard (with possible reduced accuracy) to going for a delicate chip (ala Di Canio) to deceive a diving keeper....even after-touch could be used

and the keeping side of it has plenty of room for improvement...the keepers should be more agile and freely moveable, be able to do more with their limbs, even dive forward off the line, rather than just fall to one side or the other in a fashion which wouldn't look out of place in a SNES game from 1995

I am hoping for some more front office options in the next PES. I know (and appreciate) the fact that KECT puts most of it's energies into gameplay. But some new addtions could make the game a lot more exctiting for us "front office" types.

I think that it would be great if players who refuse to gel with the rest of the team demand transfers. The longer you wait to sell these disgruntled players, the less effective they become. Eventuly you will be forced to sell these playters for perhaps less than what they are worth. Other players could "bloom" with your team and they could receive some sort of bonus when playing with players they get along well with. I know that this "bonus" is already in place in a way, but it would be good to see a much more robust feature.

The overall goal would to force the manager to actualy MANAGE. The problem that I have with PES is that the point of the game seems to be to build an uber allstar team. I don't derive much satisfaction from playing with a Real Madrid style team. I enjoy building and finding platyers and formations that work together. I like looking for that "missing piece of the puzzle" player rather than finding the highest rated one.

The Madden games are a good example of this. Faced with a salary cap, the player is forced to make tough decisions in order to see his team suceed. Negotiating contracts, working against a tight cap and training young prospects are all aspects from Madden I would love to see in a PES game.
Does this mean that there had to be a hard coded "cap" that each team must abide by? Nope. But it's a simple fact that some teams make more than others. So a player who chooses Man U will have more money to spend than a player who (perhaps for more of a challange) choses Sparta Prauge or Dynamo Kiev.

Oh well, just some thoughts... I posted something similar in the FIFA forum. I'll try and find it and repost it here.

all the management stuff is neat, but I would gladly sacrifice it for tweaks in gameplay....that's just me though...

I'm surprised online isn't being mentioned more. I mean, if pulled off properly, it would TAKE OVER OUR LIVES!!!!! I mean, come on! I could play against someone from Argentina! Or Sweden! Or Holland! I could JOIN A LEAGUE!!! It would be THE BEST THING EVER. Seriously.

Still, it would have to be done properly, but I trust Konami, crappy penalties or not.

Totally with CRO on the issue of this off-the-ball control malarkey. No-one's psychic so where's the realism or the help of pressing a button to make a different player make runs? Surely it's up to that player when they go and it's up to you to time and place the pass. In my view off-the-ball control is a cop out for the game designers who can't be arsed with good AI, and for players who want the team to play for them rather than for them to play for the team.

Penalties as well... leave them as they are.

Features I'd like:

- Online play. A must. Imagine the fun that people could have with 11 vs 11 player games. Leagues, Tournaments, etc. Obviously a decent editor would need to be developed by Konami for this. :)

- Free-kicks. The shooting system is great, but I want options. I'd like to be able to tell a player to go on a dummy run, or to play a short lay-off occasionally. I'd also like the option of passing in 360degrees when I'm out of shooting range.

- I'd like better refereeing. Many a time I've made a good slide tackle, from in front of the player where I've got the ball first and taken control then the opposing player catches my leg or something and a free kick is given. I get the impression that the referees are more lenient with the CPU controlled players. Whether the ref is on the pitch though isn't important. It would be nice, but it's not important.

- The weather. I'd still like seasonal and geographical weather variations, maybe with snow on the odd occasion. Maybe the weather could effect the game more. Wet surfaces - less bounce, more slippery ball, etc.

- More team licenses with the option to switch official team names and kits on and off. In PES2, if you won a competition you could change teams to a more authentic version. Not something that I have to see, but something that would be nice.

- Bigger ML, with a multi-division cup competition. For all their nous on football Konami have failed to grasp the attraction of domestic cups. The attraction being that it gives lower league teams the chance to mix it up with the bigger teams as much as it gives the big teams one-off, winner-takes-all matches. PES3s domestic cup competitions are limited to specific divisions.

- Variable player values would be nice in the ML, as well as things like MOM awards and a section where you can view players' overall performances in more ways than games played, goals, assists, yellow/red cards. How about extending it to include the nice new post match stats on players, so you can see the pass completion %, or shot accuracy %, or even goals-shot ratio, and average rating.

Well I don`t want to see more noname teams.
Cause most of the teams in PES3 has their own characters. (I say most of them) Konami should concentrate more on player animations and individualities. I think that was their philosophie when they start the series, quality instead quantity.

For me the titel of the series gives the right interpretation.
ISS PRO stands for International SUPER STAR Soccer Pro
PES3 : Pro EVOLUTION Soccer

But what stands behind Fifa Soccer?
