PES3 - Multi-platform

That would be increadibly foolish of Konami. Not only would it hurt their relationship with Sony, but they'd likely end up losing money on the deal. There really aren't all that many people who don't own a PS2 who want the game. Hell, the release of WE6FE in Japan showed that. Maybe there are some on the PC, but that is about it.

Not to mention the gamers can lookforward to a drop in quality.

It's about time ! :rockman: EA, you'd better watch out now !! Come on Konami, do it on multiplatform ! I wanna see EA cry on their unit sales in comparing with Konami's in 1 quarter...

Common sense (two versions have already been released, exclusively). Sales figures from the GC version in Japan. The poor sales of sport games in general on the GC. The sales of PES2 on the PS2.

Konami will break up their market. That is really all they can hope to achieve. The PC is the only other really different market available right now.

Multiplatforming, at this point, is a no-win situation.

The poor sells of WE6FE on the GC is Japan is a poor indicator. Most Japanese owns and play most of their games on consoles. They also own multiple consoles. Most Japanese probably have WE6 or WE6FE on their PS2 already. There is no need for them to get WE6FE for the GC when they have it for the PS2 already.
Most sports game sells better on consoles. FIFA is probably the exception but that is because people buy it to edit stuff. Even that, FIFA sells on the PC is less than on consoles.

i agree, Abbott, you kinda messed up here:

noone said that PES3 is going multi-platform - they just said that there's a possibility bro...

you confused everyone and got some ppl [esp FIFA fans] excited :P - unf it may just not happen.

Well.....

My first line after the link did say:

"let's hope"

When you read the quotes you can see that it's a distinct possibility but not a guaranteed thing.

At the end of the day none of us know how much Sony pay Konami to keep their games mainly on the PS2. If we knew that and any of us knew even a ballpark figure for what kind of money they'd make from multi-platform againt development costs, etc. we'd be in a better suggestion to make predictions but as it is we're all guessing!

(those news and interview are dead old man..)
but well, they already released it on GC.. so maybe the exclusivity thing with sony is over?
i just hope they release it on xbox..after all, the GC is dying.. and the xbox is the no.2 console everywhere but japan..

So I take it you're supporting my argument :rockman:

Sony.

I can't see how Sony can possibly be paying Konami more money than they would make from making PES3 multi-platform. It can't be so much money that it's enabling them to pay for the FIFA-Pro license so far so that gives an indication that it might not be a complete fortune.

If Konami are really going to break the rest of the world in a big way they have to make PES3 for the PC. A good proportion of people may have some kind of console at home but almost all of us have PC's.

EA, although crappy gameplay beyond belief in their FIFA series, have an awesome marketing department. The reason FIFA outsells Konami on the PS2 is marketing, it's got nothing to do with the quality of the game. Every computer gaming store you go into there's freaking FIFA staring you in the face on every platform. What choice have people had?

I think Konami will go multi-format because it's just too much of a good opportunity to pass up with EA stuttering with the FIFA series. All the people who are pissed this year at Ea should have the alternative of buying PES3 for whatever platform they have. There's a huge soccer market out there and if Konami are serious about getting it they need to quit the exclusive platform scene and diversify.
