Anyway, my chipped PS2 has served me well, from WE5:fe to WE7 but the 640x480 resolution just doesnt cut it anymore, no matter how well the TV blurs the image.

My Pc is starting to go grey but playing PES3 at 1024x768(hopefully 1280x1024) at 85hz is going to be awesome(as long as it sits around the 40fps mark I'm happy), far better than the mushy image of my old PS2.

Get your sh!t straight mr. computer guy. 640x480 was so PS1. The GPU inside PS2 is capable of displaying an image at 1280x1024. More & newer games support 525p. 525p will be a standard in all PS2 games in a year or so. Time to upgrade your old russian black & white crap-set & those av cables, dude and, catch the fück up with the current technolgy 'coz your sh!t just doesn't cut it...

Oh and by the way -- good luck running your game at 85 fps. First of all it won't be any better than mine running at 60 fps, second it'll take a monster for it to run at 85 fps.

This always cracks me up coming form someone posting on a PC to an enthustiast forum.
Geek really doesnt cut it as an insult anymore either(outside of TV land- you know the ppl who want you to sit and watch TV in the time you might use the internet...) don't know about where you live but Australia has a relativelty high computer literacy, with people preferring to find info for themselves, rather than having the TV show you how to be.

Actually analogue tvs are only really capable of 512x400.

Capable of producing an image at 1280x1024. This much is true. There is no way the PS2 is going to be able to move anything around at that resolution.

More & newer games support 525p. 525p will be a standard in all PS2 games in a year or so.

Here's some info for ya
525p = 480p (there is a 45 line gap in the siganl to allow the TV to reset)

So asuming you have a tv capable of progressive scan the great new resolution the PS2 can handle is 704x480 at 60 fps. Yay.

I'm glad PES 3 is on PC, simply because I refuse to buy outdated technology just for one or two games. At least w/ an Xbox the need for Memory Cards is non existant..sheesh. GTA + PES on PC = No PS2 for me

Ok Perth, I don't wanna argue over such a stupid thing anymore. All in all if you got a PS2 running in 704x480 on a 704x480 TV, you have to admit you know it'll be pretty sharp. Plus, if you throw in anti-alising support it'll not look that much worse than on a PC... . Anyways, I see your point. Looks like you know your sh!t so we cool.

480p compared to an analogue TV will look much better. Problem is we're spolit with monitors that have been able to handle double that res for years..but 4 player games of PES round a computer monitor would suck.

The PC version is do cheap anyway (18£ ??). I wouldnt bother getting a pirated version... and KONAMI must be rewarded for their efforts.

I'll buy both the PC and the PS2 version because I don't think I will be allowed to bring my Playstation + TV with me to work. And how can a person work without a quick game of PES3 once in a while
