PES5 - Too Many Offsides! crappy AI

Never had a problem with too many offsides. I've been playing the PC demo a lot this last few days and I've been a lot more impressed than I was with the PS2 "preview" version!
I know offside is part of the game, but nobody seems to understand a striker shouldn't be 15-20 yards offside, whether that is a bug or not is another matter, but seriously, try and understand what I am saying.
"But i must recall that sometimes the player automatically passes to the player that is offside instead of the player that is closer by. Even when you just tap X. That sucks ."
Then do what Shindig said, and don't press X, what else do you want? this is real soccer, you shouldn't be passing to him anyway, or for god sake use the bloody MAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! /sarcasm.

The part where Kingpug mentions the auto pass , I seen that ! I see that its in PES5 just as it was in PES4!
standing at one side of the D on the line of the penalty box ,( 3-4-3 ) one of my forwards has the ball, the other 2 ! One is across from me at the other end of the D but a yard or so inside the box with 2 defenders next to him. My 3 forward is about 4/5yrds outside the D running towards goal smack in the middle! I turn my player on the ball and aim him towards the player running in, I gently press pass to lay the ball back into the D for him to run onto !! But even though I have the player with the ball turn out towards the incoming forward, when I tab the pass button ... the player on the ball turns and faces across the box and passes the ball to my mark forward ..
and not to the player I was facing when I press the button .....
I have noticed this happening all over the palce , midfield facing forward and one of my players is just in the cpu half about 5 or 6 yards away! I press to pass to him and my player turns and lays the ball backt to one of my centre backs who has pushed up to near the halfway line .. This nearly catches me out as the ball passes by the cpu forward who is slightly to the side and behind me ...
I can only hope this auto or picking the pass for me is cut of in PES6 ..

lolol..there were far more offsides in pes4 so i dont know what the problem is. I played my mate and have played this game a coupel of times i dont get many offsides. You need to set your strikers to play deeper instead of lining them up on the goal line. Your probably using strikers that have a reaction ability instead of line positioning.

Just pass it around until they become onside. The possibility off offsides is increased but that doesn't necessarily mean that there will be more offsides.

you dont understand yourself mate. I mean look what you are saying. You dont complain about offsides but you complain about players being offside for 15-20 yard. Well thats also offside right or how would you call it then???

Yes the amount of offsides has increased, but atleast attackers are making runs. I remember going crazy on PES4 many a time when I was stuck in midfield with my playmaker not being able to create anything because no-one upfront was making an attacking run. I agree there are sometimes where you put in a cross and someone is offside but PES5 is going for simulation, attackers do slip into offside postions. Its what happens in football. All I will say is try to improve your timing where it can be helped, the same with tackling.
Finally, its only the demo, its not the finished article. I remeber having the PES2 demo on PS2. The shooting felt very scripted but when I got the full game it was a hell of allot better.

It ain't about players being offside (for the 700000000th time) it is about them being offside for 15-20 yards WHEN they are SOMETIMES offside, now obviously a striker shouldn't be this far offside, this is what I am saying, yet nobody, and I mean NOBODY seems to understand this.

Well, that is simple, because the game is 150% perfect, there is absolutely nothing about the game that sucks, even the font used is something spectacular, so obviously nobody is going to admit the game has problems.
But yea, it really is sad, I wonder if the FIFA fans can actually read, because the PES ones sure as hell can't.

at least in portuguese and some international ( to portugal ) countries , that happens... i have seen it happen ... not to much , but not all offsides are of 1 or 2 meters!

If their offside by 15-20 yards, don't pass to them. If they are that far offside, you should be easily be able to tell, and not pass to that particular player. Yes, it is unrealistic, the situation you are describing, but it doesn't seem to happen to me. But I only have the demo, not quite got the game yet.
