pes5 unplayable since superpatch!!

I'm just about ready to dump this game and stop it annoying the f*$k out of me.

I've been looking forward to the superpatch for weeks, like everyone else. I've also been struggling to get PES5 running smoothly on my fairly good pc, much like (almost) everyone else. The excellent LOD mixer, plus a bit of messing around, finally got it working good - only 1024x768 but high detail and no stutter, 60fps all the way.

Then the superpatch gets released - hooray!! Brilliant - finally we've got the game that it should have been on release.

Except it's not. Now, even 800x600 gives me an unplayable ~30fps with some ridiculous stutter.

Konami are f*%&ing sh*t. They can't be bothered programming a game for PC owners that actually works reliably. If there's ever a game that NEEDS an official patch to fix performance issues then it's this one. As it stands it's a steaming pile of turd made totally and completely unenjoyable by bollox programming. We shouldn't have to spend HOURS tweaking to get a game that was designed to work on a sh*tty ps2 run playable on a pc. It's so lazy from Konami it's not true!!

Much respect to the patchmakers - the work you guys have done looks amazing, but the fact that Konami don't give a f*ck about actually doing some programming and just port their games across as many platforms as they can think of has meant I've lost patience.

Unless they fix the huge performance holes in this game then I am downloading the FIFA06 demo and trying that again. This is not an empty threat!!!

i haven't noticed any slowdown on mine since the patch. What is your CPU speed and Vid Card model?

Helpful. I KNOW it's a 'user' problem cos I'm the 'user' whos having it, but my point is that Konami haven't bothered to try hard enough to fix these 'user' problems so their game runs well on a RANGE of pcs. Not all pcs are the same!!

no slowdown detected with or without the patch.

So it must be something on your side thats wrong...

i got new turfs and superpatch, lod mixer is set to all 1,s and 4xaa 1200X1024 everything is maxed out as much as I can get it and she runs smooth as glass.

Now i read this thread and i know that there are more people who has this problem i know that it has to do it with the new textures of the fields.

I noticed this already and said this i an other thread but nobody answer my problem.
I played a game against Malaga in stadium 'De Kuip' with the patch. It was not playable. Irritating slowdown. Than i removed the patch and played the same match again in the same stadium. It was now better playable but not perferct.
And not every statium give this slowdown, a lot of stadiums i have no problem at all. I think my computer/videocard is not good enough for the patch. So the makers of the patch didn't test this on an average pc.

You can't tell patchmakers to do perfomance tests. That's way too much. Just try to upgrade your PC.

We made performance tests also with low hardware. update your system

finaly we hope that konami make a real pc version for this game. we can make the patch better but konami don't allow it. for example some stadiums, it's only possible to add som low quality textures. hope it will be better next year

Zeus : I didn't say that it was a bad patch or it wasn't tested good enough. I just find out why it was running so slow in some stadiums.

And want do you find low hardware where you tested the patch on ?

I'll post my dxdiag.txt later on today when I get in from work. It's actually really annoying me that my system can't run this game as I LOVE the pes games and spend ages on them!

I accept that it's something wrong with my system but I don't know what it can be - got DX9c, latest ATI Catalysts, no virus or spyware. Other games (HL2, RaceDriver 2 etc) run absolutely beautiful, smooth as silk. But a crappy PS2 port will not.

We tried to use the best files for the patch, for about 90% of user there are no lags. when we use low quality textures the patch run for all user great but 80% of them will say that the quality is very bad

for those people have problems, you can try with the new tool of Juce66, the LOD MIXER! change your graphic details more hight or more down respecte the original games!!!

ROb, do you usually play with AA or AF on? I know PES doesn't even have it enabled, but that could be a source.

Another thing can you test your direct draw,d3d and sound for dxdiag? Lastly - I was having performance issues as well, but with TW06. What fixed it was going into dxdiag and under the sound tab I put the Hardware Acceleration marker on the 2nd to last one ( so not full acceleration, but the one next to it coming from the left) so it'll say Basic Acceleration. Play around with those if you can.

Someone mentioned as well the new turf could be an issue - this is possible, try playing on Low,Medium with lower resolutions and see how that runs. If it runs with that combination then the problem lies within the actual field patches rather than your system.

Juce's LOD Mixer might be able to help as well - try looking to download that if you haven't already.

hope you get this all figured out - just remember there's no point in complaining when you're on a PC, there are many ways to fix things; just have to figure it out.
