On high res. my PC PES5 graphics look just as good as that. I really don't see any improvement there at all. The player models look the same, the stadiums, crowds and grass looks the same. If that's supposed to be a taste of "next-gen" graphics then Konami need to go back to the drawing board. Those are just the regular PC port of PS2 graphics. Higher res but basically the same identical structure.
ahem...
huge graphics improvement, but maybe you're missing it because you're comparing running the game on the highest settings 1280 x 1024 vs a low-res screenshot (465 x 275 on this review's screenshot, while gamespot's review has these same pics on 1024 x 576 but they look slightly upsampled and pixellated).
from what I've seen in the x360 screenshots (and you can never know if these are PC or x360), here's a few of the graphic improvements that appear just by looking:
- better field textures (there's actually variation in the grass instead of being just one tiled texture with the overlay of the darkness/lightness pitch lines/squares/circles)
- grass sticking out on close-ups
- per-pixel lighting
- normal mapping
- higher polycount in models (arms and legs are no longer hexagons, fingers are not boxes, they actually have shoulders now, they now have ankles, boots are alot more defined, the hair has better shape)
- improved HUD look (fonts and borders now look a lot better, it no longer looks like an SNES HUD)
- better shirt features: numbers, names and badges now actually look to be *in* the shirt instead of being flying on top of it
so please look closer into the screenshots and not just the resolution and sharpness, because these are low-res screenshots! once you run it at 1280x1024 your resolution and sharpness will be back again
