Player Numbers

jonin

Youth Team
I was watching some games with a friend and she noticed the similarity in the numbers of certain players at certain positions and she asked me about it.
I tried to explain how some numbers mean certain things, but I pretty much failed, I think.
Outside of GKs are 1, Strikers are 9 and 10, and 7 tends to be a star player, I was having a great deal of dificulty explaining something I just sort of subconsciously know.
Can someone help me establish what the numbers really mean?
