Ronaldo Relishing Becks Duel

Cristiano Ronaldo says he is relishing the prospect of coming up against David Beckham, the man he replaced at Manchester United.

The two are likely to line-up against each other at some stage in Wednesday's international friendly between Portugal and England in Faro with further comparisons bound to be made between the two.

Teenager Ronaldo inherited the England captain's famous number seven shirt when he moved to Old Trafford in the summer from Sporting Lisbon, after Beckham departed for pastures new with Real Madrid.

The Portuguese winger has made a steady start to his time with The Red Devils as Beckham's replacement and says he lists the Real star among the players he admires most.

"David Beckham is a player I really admire and so it will be a great honour for me to finally play on the same field as him," said the Madeira-born star.

"People have tried to compare us because of the fact I now have the shirt he wore at United, but we are very different players."

Ronaldo's international colleague and Beckham's El Santiago Bernabeu team-mate Luis Figo also added his praise for the midfielder, saying he will go down as one of the greatest ever.

Rumours have persisted of a spat between the pair, of which both deny, and Figo has even invited Beckham to dine with him at a restaurant he owns in the Algarve after they do battle on the pitch.

"David Beckham is a monster of soccer," said the ex-Barcelona winger.

"He is not only in the current elite but he will go down in history as one of the best of all times. His great virtue is his constant work ethic."

I think most of the people overhere are much too modest about Portugal's chances in this match. I 've seen them playing in a friendly against Holland and they dominated a large part of the first half. If you consider that they did play with some young and new players against us, you can expect something from them.
They really impressed me and when they build on that match against England I expect them to win 2-0 or so. I don't say England is weak; I just say Portugal is that strong :)

PPV in the USA probley

I ordered the FA cup final, it was $25....just to give you an idea of the price range.

I think thats terrible. In the UK we don't get charged a cent for US sports broadcasts,we get NFL,NBA,NHL,MLB and WWE for free, well not free technically seeing as u have to pay £15 a month subscription to SKy Sports but that covers all all sports like football, boxing, rugby etc. I think US cable viewers should get European Football free over there instead of having to fork out money on a PPV game, seeing as the US economy is lower than that of the UK it just don't make any sense and IMO it's wrong.

I like the lineup, hopefully they'll do good. Also hoping to see most of the young players play.

I think Miguel should be starting, but he'll just have to settle being a sub. Deco on the bench Scolari must of finally figured out the Costa-Figo-Deco don't work well when on the field together.
