A SENIOR Premiership figure has been caught on tape claiming his boss likes a bung and so does he.
The revelation is in the hands of the BBC Panorama team who have been working undercover for six months probing alleged illegal payments in football.
Yesterday, SunSport exclusively told how 10 clubs and six managers are named on the tapes.
And today we can reveal the bombshell news that at least three clubs have been contacted by the BBC and asked for their comments about transcripts of taped conversations recorded by their undercover investigator. The clubs’ lawyers are looking at the claims.
Premier League chiefs have asked the BBC to give their evidence to Lord Stevens so he can include it in his bung report.
Preliminary findings from the Stevens probe will be revealed at a meeting of all 20 Premiership chairmen on October 2.
Panorama set up a bogus company to hook an agent and suggested it was interested in buying his business for £1.5million.
However he was first asked to prove he could get them introductions and sort deals with other managers and agents
The agent concerned made a number of accusations which, if proved, will rock professional football to its foundations.
In the course of one meeting involving the agent and the undercover investigator, the Premiership figure made his bombshell claim.
The programme is due to be broadcast on Monday week but may be delayed because of legal arguments.
The BBC are not sure whether certain allegations can be broadcast without further proof and it could even be the accusation about the boss and his bung does not go to air.
An insider told SunSport: “Everybody is talking about this programme. The game is buzzing with gossip and there are a lot of fingers being pointed in different directions.
“There are claims that some of what the agent said is just not true and that the Premiership clubs concerned can prove it.
Panorama have a lot of stuff but much of it may end up on the cutting room floor.”
News of the TV probe comes as Lord Stevens finalises his report into bungs. His company, Quest, has been carrying out an investigation into transfers at the request of Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore.
A Premier League spokesman said: “We would ask anybody with evidence to submit it to Lord Stevens’ inquiry.”
