Premiership players lacking Skill!!!!!!!

I haven't just noticed that a lot of the players in the premiership are lacking skill.....if u look at la liga and italian football u just cant compare their ball skills......maybe this is why teams like arsenal and chelsea are lacking homegrown players..........

arsenal.....jermaine pennant, ashley cole, ray parlour keown...
chelsea.....lampard, glen johnson,joe cole,john terry....

there are hardly any english born players in those sides......i wonder why?

these players have to bust a sweat in training every week because all the overseas players might take their spot......maybe it sbecause they lack a part of the game which foreign players bring.............skill.............

whereas players in the lower divisions arent worried as much as they know they have more than enough opportunity to prove themselves worthy............i was watching league review on sky sports yesterday and was immpressed that a division 3 player LEE TRUNDLE is worth a staggering 1 million pounds and is top scorer in division 3......thas a lot of money for a division 3 club.......he has so much awareness, flair and skill on the ball.......one thing that may slow his game down might be the other crap players he plays with in division 3........

point is more homegrown players from the youth team need to be given a chance and they need to be one step ahead of players from abroad......which means they need to be as good or even better......i notice a lot of youth players are now basing there game more on skills than running as usual.......because they'll catch there managers attention easier.....(milner,rooney, eagles)............

even when players coem from abroad they might start playin like the rest of the premirship...running running running...which is 1 percent of the game...dont u guys think premier ship players lack skill?and youth and british players need to develop their skills to be picked by managers........

so what's ur point? its not the skill that counts.... ronaldo has skill but is not top scorer, same with shearer, except he is not that skillful but is top of scoring charts..... its the performance that really counts....

Ronaldo is one of the top goalscorers of the Spanish league if im not mistaken, he scored more than 5 in the season i think. And Ronaldo can create his goals, where as some players keep the 90 mins inside the area waiting for a chance to score. But i agree, a good player doesnt need to have good skills. Although a lot of teams in the Premiership have lots of players with ZERO skill. I was watching Tottenham-Boro these days and i was amazed at how some players couldnt even dribble. Darren Anderton for example, i didnt see him dribble one single player, and he was so useless, but maybe it was just a bad day. I'm a rookie in terms of watching the Premiership, it's just the first year i watch it, on Espn Brazil. (god i love them, they show Serie A, Bundesliga, EPL and La liga, plus the Uefa Champions League)

even u give those homegrown players more chances its no use. what caused their lack of skills is the way they are brought up and coached. i believe, in their youth teams in England, things like dribble isnt encouraged. instead, they are always asked to ******* pass the ball, etc. if one tries to dribble instead of to pass the ball, everyone will say hes selfish... i think that makes the difference between english players and south american players in general.

yeah, south americans dribble on the streets and are free to try anything, but in some countries that´s 'selfish'

The problem is that some players just over do it. Diego from Santos for example. Ronaldinho from Barça used to be like that, now he's more of a brilliant passer and he just dribbles for getting some space for his comrades.

yeah, thats why its hard to be a good player. u have to choose the best thing to do, when to pass, when to dribble, instead of simply dribbling all the time. it wont be entertaining any more if u overdo it, knowing that a nice killer pass can also be admirable.

South Amercians appreciate a player who can put his foot to the ball and beat his man, then go back and do it again, even if it doesn't serve a purpose. Take Claudio Lopez as an example. He was horrible in Argentina, the crowd booed him all the time.

Comes to Europe to play a more tatical game and is a gun.

it's old news that the british/english players lack on the ball skills. there have already been countless articles and editorials about that, and there have been many reasons and ways to improve on that.

i do believe that england's homegrown players lack the on the ball skills that are often displayed in leagues in south america, italy, spain, even france. that's why england gets so hyped when a youngster like joe cole comes in with a bag of tricks. but anyways, back to the original topic, yea..the premiership's homegrown talent does lack the on the ball skills as opposed to its imports.

Another pattern emerging here, see if you can spot it

Arsenal manager: Arsene About
Chel$ki manager: Claudio Ranieri

Does that explain it enough?

By that you mean that in teams with foreign managers the English players get less chances right? If not please enlighten me..:mrpimp:

You've hit the nail on the head there, and I hope nobody is offended, but I think that foreign managers have a tendency to buy players from abroad due to their understanding of the foreign game, which can be seen at Highbury and the influx of French players under Arsene Wenger has actually benefitted the side, I don't think it would have been as successful if it had been an English manager

You're probably right, but maybe he did that because he didnt have anyone as skillful as the frenchmen he brought into the squad, that was English. But some players will step up into the 1st team soon, in Chelsea it will be Joe Cole and Carlton Cole (at least) and Arsenal, it will be Pennant. Even so, its too little... But this problem also appears in other nations too, look at Ajax. When they played against Milan, the only dutch on the team was Van der Vaart, and in other games its not much different.
