Pro Evolution Soccer advert banned!

The new Pro evolution Soccer 5 game advertisement featuring Thierry Henry and John Terry was due for release this week but the company responsible for censoring and checking Adverts banned it because the advert showed a grounds man going over the extension wires of the console Henry and Terry were playing with a lawn mower and sparks flying out! This is apparently a health hazard as kids will see it and copy it :crazyboy: A new advert will be filmed this week or the old one modified to remove the part where the sparks fly from the mower!

The ad was shown on Soccer AM at around 11 am on saturday. It is a cool advert shame it was pulled off for something so petty. Maybe they will release the same one again who knows.

Nonetheless we all know it will sell pretty fast so get pre ordering! Now that JT is in the ad maybe a few more kids will move away from that arcade game. *coughs*

The official line was that it was banned for "health and safety" reasons!

Britain has always been known for tight advertising laws. Hell, if you see any tit or even nipple in an advert you can guarantee there'll be 1000s of complaints the next day where as you can get away with showing anything over on the continent.

Yeah, adverts aren't their forte.

i think the ad rocks, only the ingame footage they are showing should be more spectacular and not some replay stuff, i mean you can even see the replay buttons. Thats a little unproffesional if you ask me. :D
And what the hell is jonh terry saying at the ending??

The ad is terrible... KONAMI should now hire a new sales/advert manager as well as a new audio supervisor....

1) They didn't show-off any of the amazing animations in the game...
2) They've chosen the worst replay angle...
3) The goal is below average!
4) The ending isn't clever, nor is it hillarious...

I mean when u have Henry and Terry doing an ad, u want to use them is a CLEVER one..

Dear lord that is terrible. It just doesn't give you any idea about the game, only gameplay footage is used. They should show some of the box at least.

The ad is not aimed at us ie. existing PES players. It's aimed at FIFA players
and people who have never bought a football game before. Therefore it has to be stupid to sell the game.

The ending sucks. Tehb start was fairly decent, but seriously Konami should decide to show the key points of the game. I mean they would have a better luck in the ad if they used compilations by WE/PES players.

Yeah, that would sell the game well to existing hardcore users of the game (the people on here for example). This is designed as a promotion of the game linking well known football players to the game. Perhaps not as well done as the current FIFA06 ads (the ones with Ronaldinho and Rooney) but it will be effective I'm sure.

You no longer sell product on features, you sell it on image (that's why there's no science etc. in football boot adverts). You know the boots are the best because of the people using them, not because of the stud pattern they use or the material they're made of. That's what you find out later.

I don't expect the average PES player to understand the nature of image led advertising, it's the same reason why Apple's iPod has been more popular than every other mp3 player. Suffice to say, this advert is not aimed at you, because you're going to buy the game anyway.

Exactly. You need to worry about Terry & Henry running out in proper kits and showing footage of real kits. That seems to be all Fifa players care about
