Problems With Demo...

I own WE7:I on PS2, but obviously I can't patch it, and though the option file works great, I want to be able to customize my game like I could with Final Evolution. Anyway, I decided to try the demo, and I have a pretty decent computer... but my controls were so delayed... I couldn't even play the game. Was there a problem with certain demos or is it my computer? My computer has the following specs:

512 MB RAM
AMD Athlon 1.6 GHz
ATi Radeon 9600 128MB
40 GIG HD

If you need anything else, let me know. I just want to know if my computer can run the full version of WE7, or if this is just a problem with the demo.
