Proper game speed - key to proper gameplay

I ll write something more about game speed and pace of gameplay, couse i beleive most of gamers have unproper game speed. Most of them are probably unaware of this. I was - for long i was thinking i was playing PES, but it wasn't right thing. We download hundreds of MB of patches, all look so fine, but with crappy gameplay, crappy AI, something is badly wrong with game, feel too fast, doesnt feel like good old PES demo????
Lets try one test. Start a game (prefferably on patched pitch), pass ball to defender, try to rotate him a bit and move wit a ball. If he is moving and
rounding fast as horse on dopping - YOU VE GOT A PROBLEM. YOUR GAME IS NOT RUNNING PROPERLY. YOU DONT PLAY PES (WE), you play game which your pc is trying to render from Konami data files. Your AI sucks. Mostly just throwing balls in space,
sending through balls - because it has no memory or clock time to process
something else!!!
The core of probably we all know. The game is designed for PS2, then just
translated to PC. The proper feeling of PES (WE) you can recall from PES demo. The
ball is fluid, a bit heavy, player's moves are fluid. You can start the game on
same La Bombonera stadium (NOT MODIFIED- the one from original game), on medium settings with Anti aliasing disabled (in your graphic card menu - check let the application decide). The game feeling should be on proper level now (i am speaking if your have graphic card of a least 128MB). Can you feel the difference?
The game is speeding up because of two reasons: or your settings are too high, so pc cannot render all player's move, so it is just skeaping some of theme, speeding up the game; or your game is patched so textures inside are not optimized for smooth play. Off course we all wants to play with patched game, so it will need lost of adjusting of ingame settings and graphic card menu. Try all these, disable Anti aliasing, Anisotropic filtering, ENABLE vertical refresh, lock to 60hz, power settings to maximum performance, do what i suggest with exe...play with it, every pc is set different.I am giving you a clue what to search for, you have to find it. It takes a lot of time. Final reward is that you have game which Konami wanted to give to us.
I am listening about WE9LEK perfect gameplay these days...but its mostly all
about that game is properly optimized. Even Konami is writting this! WHEN YOUR GAME IS ON PROPER SPEED, AI GAMEPLAY IS IMPROVING, TOO. PC has more memory and time to process actions. You ll see more smart decisions.
One more tip: Programs like 3D analyser will let you know when your game is on 60hz, but they not gonna tell is it on proper speed.

You can try two more (temporary) methods to slow down the game speed:
1.(a)Start any match on highest possible setting.Prefferably such that your
framerate is stucking and going slow. (b)Set AI vs AI with double game speed, and leave it play for 2-3 min. Then stop the game and return your normal settings (without restarting the game). Next matches use to go slower (on same stadium).
You can skip (a) if works only with (b). This is just temporary solution. Next
time you restart your pc or change stadium, it may be same problem with speed.

2.Next solution is to download small program "CM4_Speeder". Use google to find it.
Start program. Use B button to browse to your exe, R button to start game (in windowed mode). Move bar to left, sensitive to 2^0.1 or 2^0.2, until you reach game speed you want. Switch to full screen. With this program you ll surely slow down the game, but not to "proper feeling of the ball"

I transferred to WE9I these days. Konami said it is more optimized, i am not sure about it. It took me looong until i get slower and fluid gameplay like in demo. Later i tweak option file for enhanced reality. Beleive me...game is now something totaly different. I enjoy every game, every minute of it, using stadium server, WSAG or Watson option files. Game is fluid, AI is smarter...it is all worth time for tweaking. Its not the crappy game i was playing months before.
Wish you luck with tweaking. You should do it - KONAMI didn't. Lets hope PES6 will come more optimized.

For me the game speed is good, why make such complicated things?

PES6 is almost out, i don't even play PES5 these days.

Yes but for me it isn't and I was waiting for a thread like this.I always knew that the patched game played faster than non patched one (there are a lot of people who will say that this isn't true but belive me it is) but I never knew why. Thanks for this thread!!!

so you think AI decisions are better when game is better optimized?

more memory for AI decisions? if not AI cancels some decisions?

that sounds pretty ridicoulous to me

in your theory when playing on Olimpico AI is better there, cause it runs more smoothly then f.e. on Delle Alpi which lags sometimes?

so You will easily win on Delle Aple?!

total bull**** as Im concerned! :hump:

Thanks man you just gave me a new game!!!I did the part with exe and then changed my graphic card settings. Before, the settings were all on high quality, but i put everything on optimal performance and voila my players are not running like they are on drugs..BTW my graphic card is ati x700.
Thanks again I own you a beer :)

P.S Don't listen to these comments like that is bull**** and other crap because those who know what you are talking about will appreciate your work.

If not optimized, will I get less frames per second or it has nothing to do with it? Because I'm priorizing performance and I get the same fps (60).
Regarding AI I could not tell inmediatly, since formations and tactics have something to do with it.

Surely, or your pc is a latest beast, so everything is running perfect on it, or you re just weekend player, who anyway can't see that somethin isn't right with game pace.
And yes, there is big difference between stadiums you use, if you play on edge of graphic capabilities of your PC. AI will be different if you play on Bombonera (Olimpico is not 'light stadium') or on Delle Alpi, or you play on medium or high settings, or when your game is going too fast or normal.
NO, you won't win any easier, cause pc will cheat you on different way; it will sent some redicilous through balls, you wont be able to stop, AI attackers will jump header like kamikaze...but AI will play different. On proper settings, AI is making more combinations, more returning ball a back, smartly organize attacks.
I surely played over a 1000 games (20/30min) on PES4/PES5 last years, i play football, i watch football, i know somethin about PCs, and beleive me this what i am talking about is TRUE. You can install any patch you want, if you game is not running properly (like PES5 demo) - it's crappy - you better play on PS2!
And i was interested too see how many peoples see what i see. So i am not surely alone. Thanks for support.

Above was for Chopa. Vjerojatno HR. Razmisli malo.
For LD: Even if you have steadily 60fps (probably by 3D), it doesnt mean you have proper pace. It can be fluid, but still too fast. FPS are more performance problem, optimized gameplay is another. On some patched stadiums you may never reach proper feeling. You have to tweak your card setting a bit. When you have that feeling of 'heavy' ball like in demo, and when ball is nicely bouncing around, passes are quite slow... you are on good way.
PS., on wide screen game is a bit faster, but it is normal. Even normal tv football look faster on wide screen.

sorry but this is all nonsense, people with mid-top end systems should not have a problem.

the only problem I had was the refresh rate, I set it to 60hz and turned vertical sync on, problem solved.

Plus the majority of people with low end pc's would have tweaked the graphics card settigns by now.

For me, one of the keys to a better gameplay is to improve the goalkeeper, not only his skills. In (specially FIFA) football games, the goalies just seems to be there.. they don't FEEL like goalkeepers.

low hardware run the game at less of 60fps (frame's skipping trick by konami, as for emulators) and so the game results too quick. for select minor speed you can run the game with CM4 speeder and set by this tools the level of speed in %... Search it in the forum...

So, if i got this right,

Someone with a fast computer with SLI , should not have this problem right ?

Because his pc has enough power to play the game at max settings and still has power left to render all player's move.

Am i correct ?

OMG, how can you believe that performance affects AI? The memory for CPU instructions is the first thing to be assured, that's why the games have minimum requirements, first the instructions, then the graphics, this was the most pathetic thing i've read on the forum.

:ewan: Does this fix the AI so that it won't make my players run like retards trying to avoid the ball thats running loose? It's one out of a hundred that the cpu actually creates something that isn't based on my players trembling and jerking or running as far away from everything as possible. Or does this fix make the ref give more yellow cards to the cpu (at least one/season) since it doesn't seem possible at the moment. :ewan:

Seriously what's the point trying to fix this game when PES6 is just around the corner. Just let this one rust in piece (hehe Megadeth :rockman: ) If only the Konami team would read the pes forums so they could see where their game is heading to...
I say it'll take for about three years and we can't say which one is worse FIFA or PES...

I suspect the players moaning about game speed are using the industry standard pentium 2 ghz , 512 ram and an fx 5200 graphics card.

And they have the cheek to moan about the game,
