Xbox 360 continues poor sales in Japan

Punch Jump's Hot Coffee Talk

Microsoft's Xbox 360 continues to see poor sales in Japan.

In a data report from Media Create Co., the Xbox 360 sold only 1,039 units from Mar. 13-19.

The latest Xbox console has frequently sold around 1,000 units for the past several weeks.

By comparison, Nintendo's DS handheld sold over 130,000 units in the same week.

Xbox 360 software releases like Namco's Ridge Racer 6 and Tecmo's Dead or Alive 4 have been unable to lure customers to the new console.

The previous Xbox also met with tepid demand from customers in Japan. Microsoft had pledged for greater support for the Xbox 360, however popular genres like RPG and strategy games are still in development.

Customers may also be in wait for upcoming console offerings from Sony and Nintendo, set to debut this Nov.

^ heh, no kidding..

got a silly DS question for anyone that has one or knows.... does the DS have an appointment book, calender, phone book, etc.. basically simple PDA type stuff?

ok, so how many of you guys actually have one of these or are planning to get one?

I'm really close to picking one up, that DS Lite is just too sexy. I've also been reading up on the whole wi-fi thing and it seems like it would be way too fun to pass up...even something silly like Animal Crossing sounds like it would be addictive as hell in online multiplayer! Not to mention the wi-fi Winning Eleven coming out.. (Y)

The more looking I do into the DS, the more impressive it seems. To answer my own question back there (after a bit of online research) about the PDA stuff, apparently there's something in development called "Organizer Plus" which will basically add PDA features to your DS. I've also read in a forum that Opera is making a DS version of it's browser.

A couple people told me online that the black version of the DS Lite that's available in Europe will be coming to North America in August. I might wait until then to see if that's true because the black version is a really hot looking little unit! (the white is cool too though)

EDIT: just read this morning that Nintendo is actually developing it's own browser called, the Nintendo Browser. So far all the info is in japanese but according to IGN it should be avalable in a month or so... check it out:

i wasnt in the slighest bit interested, never.

Then i saw the ad on TV for Mario Bros. with a dude playing it on his NES (H)

I have to say, i did have a small accident after watching that advert, and not an Watson-related accident either!

SNES was weak, at least get a N64 (or dust your old one off) so you can play Mario Cart 64, Golden Eye, and the rest of the amazing games. I still have one in my living room even though it was the last Nintendo thing I bought.

No way was SNES weak. It's only neck-and-neck with PlayStation as the BEST GAME CONSOLE EVER. Any casual or hardcore gamer will tell you that. N64 was a flop despite having a couple of blockbuster titles. And besides, chicks generally love SNES. That's just one of its many pluses.

the browser is created by Opera i think. Nintendo approach them and they work together on the DS browser

have to agree with Mana, the SNES was fantastic. Super Mario World and Mario Kart offered more than the Mega Drive could hope to put together (apart from SoR of course). and as for the N64, EVERYONE i know used to play Goldeneye/Perfect Dark on it and that was it.

My SNES has stopped working, joining my Mega Drive in the "it simply doesnt work anymore" box. Hilariously, my NES works just fine.

Good old cartridges :D

Cartridges were always ultra-reliable!

there's nothing that infuriates me more than renting a PS2 game from Blockbuster, only to pop it in and realize it doesn't work because some previous renter scratched the sh!t out of it.. (:/)

Snes was great because of the awesome RPGs released for it. Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Front Mission. Class stuff there... :junior:

Oh, and of course, the legendary Mario Kart for the win.

and then going in and trying to explain to them that it was faulty :(

I mean the NES cartridges were the stuff kids nowadays laugh at, if i went into a local school and said, this is how we used to play games:

i'd be laughed out of the school, i mean look at the size of that cartridge (H) And they werent light either lol

I bought a DS for my little bro a couple months back. I never thought about playing it though.. but the Winning Eleven wi-fi sounds way too tempting.

I might need to Carlos it from him.

And shinji, that black DS is hawt.

yeah, the wifi capabilities have so much potential.. I can see once Winning Eleven comes out, there will probably be all kinds of wi-fi leagues, tournaments, etc for that game. I still think I'm gonna hold out a couple more weeks and see if that rumour about the black DS coming to north America is true, otherwise I'll just pick up the white.

there's a wi-fi compatible Final Fantasy coming out in Nov too
