In Indonesia if you got caught stealing in public ( like in a mall, etc ), you can beat the guy up with the rest of the people around you, and put him on fire.

I remember reading this story in the paper like 10 years ago when some guy was breaking into a house through a window and slipped and fell on some jagged glass. He ends up getting injured fairly seriously and actually sues the homeowners and won. There was public outcry and people demended that some laws be changed, but I think it was eventually swept under the rug..

The law shouldnt have to be changed though, you WOULD think there would be some logic used when applying them by the judge and other law enforcment bodies.
