question about Db editing....

when someone releases patches for the Db such as adding teams and what not, do they just patch the Db, or do the usually install new Db's? as ive made some additions to my Db, mainly just a player or 2....but id like to install some patches when they come out such as added national teams and such, but id rather not FUBAR what ive changed so far...

everything will be overwritten and all your savegames are void when installing patches that change the database.
