Question about re-signing players in Manager mode

Guys,

I have won Serie B with Juve, and am now in Serie A. One of the goals set for me this season is to resign 2 of my players to contracts of 3 or more years.

Many of my players are in their last season under contract, so I have tried to resign some of them at the beginning of the season. ALL have declined

I then upgraded my negotiator (from a 7 to an 8), and tried to resign my final few players who are on their last contracted season, and they all declined as well !!

I offered them all a lot more money, so I dont understand what the problem is.

Is it because its the beginning of a new season ??

Will I have another chance to resign these guys in the next transfer window ??

When passing to the next season you will be offered to renew their contracts, but their wages will be sky high.
It would be better for you to offer them 15% bonuses, and you will probably even decrease their wages. The funny bug I've noticed in Fifa is that, any bonuses I've offered will be down to 0% again if I save, exit and reenter my manager mode. It'll just say "You couldn't come to an agreement with a player", though the contract is still renewed to 3-4 years and their wage decreased.

Firstly I'd like to say that I'm glad that this happens with larger clubs as well as the minnows (I play as Wycombe in League Two - or League One now), which is obviously going to be of no comfort to you. In my first season I had the 'sign two players to three year contracts' expectation, and it costs you 750 manager prestige points if you fail to do so. I found that there were three of the eleven players in the last year of their contracts who would not sign even for the maximum wage I could set, with the maximum bonus (and two of those had maximum morale). Three others would only accept the absolute maximum (wage and bonus). I've also found a similar story when trying to sign free agents, so it appears that either the players are greedy or there is some faulty logic in the game.

With transfers it is possible simply to renegotiate immediately the offer has been made, and thus to push the wage higher than the 50% more than the player is asking for barrier, but there seems to be nothing similar for contract negotiations. I ended up experimenting (by attempting negotiations, and then quitting and reloading) to find two players that would sign for amounts that I thought were reasonable (in my case two midfielders that I could offer 15% bonuses to without fear of that breaking the bank), renegotiated their contracts before the final game of the season (ignoring the boards increasingly desperate complaints that I had not yet completed one of the tasks set for me) and let the other nine fall through to the default process at the end of the season, where your negotiator magically manages to get them to agree to amounts that are more in line with what they are already earning.

I don't think it has anything to do with the transfer window, just let a few games pass and the players should be available for negotiations again.
