Question about the Zlatan Goal

I was wondering, after Zlatan had flicked the ball, Vieri had a chance to header it off the line but couldnt jump high enough.

What would of happened if he had of like put his hands on the cross bar and did something like a chin-up to get him up higher so he could header the ball away. Would that of breached any rules?

I don't think that would be penalized, but it would have taken too much time for vieri to first grab the crossbar and then lift himself up...

I think Vieri like the rest of the world didn't expect Ibrahimovic to go for such a spectacular chip so he just watched in amazement :)

with vieri height, i don't think he need to do that. if he jump properly, his head most properly can reach or over the cross bar. just that come in sudden and no people will expect zlatan did that fluke + technique flip

I think it would be seen as unfair play. It's not allowed to lean on the shoulders of a teammate as well.
So the ref would have given him a yellow card and an indirect free kick outside the six yard box to Sweden.

If Vieri had put his hands up and swung from the crossbar and headed it away nothing would have happened. No foul. NOTHING!!

nothing would have happened i don't think.

It hapened to a player in a match i played a long time ago... he was pretty small and was covering the post.
When the ball came looping towards him he used his hands in the net to rise higher and he saved off the line.

Damn, Great queation man (Y)

That would have been something else.

I remember Cocu a couple years ago in a situation like that blocked the ball with his hands and then the keeper saved tge penalty.
