Quick question for THE KNIFERS!! (re: PS2 model & knife trick)

Hey Guys,

I just got a quick question about the knife-trick - what version PS2s does it work on? A friend of mine in the US is thinking of getting a PS2 & 'knifing it' (lol) what versions/models are compatable with the knife trick, and how would he go about getting a particular version/model of the PS2?

Yeah, WE6 sounds so good that I'm also thinking about knifing my PS2...if necessary, I'll strangle it too.

Yeah, I modded my PS2 and I thought WE5:FE was a brilliant game - WE6 is just incredible. The more you play, the better it gets and the Master League is magnificient with the league cups, buying & re-signing players, loaning players, money deductions for losses, building up player stats etc - it just sucks you in. I played till 5am this morning!

So, anyone know about the version/model?

Here goes:

V1: Not sure, but it probably does work.
V2: Works.
V3: Works.
V4: Works
V5: Doesn't work, although I heard someone say that it does. Physically, it does not seem possible.
V6: Sony made it not work for a reason in V5, so all bets are on the fact that it does NOT work for this version.

If you don't know which version you have, search the web for serial numbers and stuff.

BUT, if you bought it over a few months ago, like a year ago, it will work for sure. If you bought it recently, you may have a V4 but most likely its a 5 or 6, like mine (dammit).

If you don't know anything about the number, get knife trick instructions and try to locate the white pin talked about in the first couple of steps. It is EASY and SAFE to locate it. If you CAN locate it, you can do the knife trick!

I can confirm that version one definitely works. I got my PS2 the week they came out. Here's hoping that it never wears out!

so:

i have a US PS2, and all i need to do to plat the orinal game, not a back-up, would be a gameshark and the knife trick?
